Using Binaural Beats in Cool Edit Pro Subject description: give me your brain |
 |
|
have you used either the "Tone Generator" or "Brainwave Synchronizer" in cool edit?
For the tone generator plugin, i am curious, how do you set HZ frequencies/modulations to attain note vibrations? E.X. what is the frequency for a "D flat" or whatever.
and, also, WHAT IN THE HELL IS THE BRAINWAVE SYNCHRONIZER!!! is it a mind control device, or is it for music? what is going on with this plugin effect??? i've used it to make some cool effects, but I don't understand it...and we all know that using something and understanding it are totally different things (and ARP ODYSEY ha ha ha) so hey somebody help me out, or I just might, uh...stop trying so hard....

[editor's note: changed your title a bit - was "Cool edit yo". Hope that's OK. --mosc] |

Hmm, yes, I've used both, but its been a while.
Yes .. the brain wave thingy is all about mind control, but music is all about that anyway ... mostly in the sense of being relaxing or the oposite of it. Come to think of it, there are better ways to make you think about sex
The online help about it used to be pretty good about this subject.
Re. the frequencies .. A is 440 Hz (nowadays, it changed over time) going half a note up means multiplying by 2^(1/12) for equal tempered scales, going down equals dividing by that amount.
Wikipedia has some good info for scales BTW, but some searching on this forum might show up refs to better pages. _________________ Jan

The brain wave synchronizer is based on scientific research. I've done a lot of experimenting with this. It can be used for musical purposes too. I don't use the Cool Edit plugin, but the Nord Modular.
Try Google for "binaural sync" and you'll see quite a bit of stuff, including a brief Wikipedia article and many commercial recordings for sale that help you relax and solve all the problems you have in life to boot.
This is good, though, for meditation music, if the listener agrees to wear headphones. _________________ --Howard

There are hundreds of people trying to cash in on this. I have not seen any research that has demonstrated that you can clear up clogged sinuses with synchronized brain waves. I have seen research that indicates that experienced meditators achieve brain synchronization while meditating, and that binaural listening to two tones tends to put many people in a synchronized brain wave state at the difference frequency of the tones in the left and right ears. So, it is logical that well designed sonic material could help induce a deep meditative state.
I have tried this myself and have had great results. I've never tried it for speed learning though, or for clearing a stuffy nose. _________________ --Howard

I think the frequencies are based on Rife. Here are the frequencies used in the "Sinus Cure" preset:
2.5 Hz- Pain relief, relaxation, reported use on bleeding, bruises, insomnia, and sinusitis.
72 Hz- Emotional spectrum; Used on sinusitis/sinus infection/head cold
146.0 Hz- Used on sinus infection/head cold
456.0 Hz- Used on sinusitis/sinus infection/head cold
I'm not sure exactly how it works either but testimonials on this site and other sites with similar presets show that it definently is effective. _________________ "We don't like their sound, and guitar music is on the way out." --Decca Recording Company, on rejecting the Beatles in 1962 |

What are these frequencies? Are these the difference frequencies? If so, it's hard to believe that the brain could ever synchronize at such high frequencies - above about 15 or 20 Hz. _________________ --Howard

i like feeling the effect of using Impulse played at different frequencies.
each impulse seems to give excitation to the nervous system,
sometimes it feels just like electricity running through body a little bit after each impulse is perceived by the ears.
and stereo impulses are cool also.
i guess we can try these at home and share how we feel at different frequencies or spacing of the impulses.
it can be an impulse like this: 0 1 0 (one sample impulse)
or filtered (low-pass / high-pass / band-pass)
or a grain from granular synthesis. |
