Anyone controlling Reason 3.0 w/ NM1 knobs? Subject description: External Control |
 |
|
Strange, but for some reason I can't get my NM1 midi CC messages to be recognized by Reason 3.0.
Reason detects the Nord on the right port but doesn't seem to see the CC messages coming from the virtual knob I've assigned within my patch.
I've tried every kind of controller definition that Reason offers.
Anyone have any suggestions/clues/past success stories?
thanks in advance,

Maybe I misunderstood your mesage ..
The idea is to have a MIDI CC and and a real knob both to be assigned to a virtual knob (a knob on a module in the editor). Then when you turn the real one MIDI messages are sent out.
I don't think that MIDI messages wil be sent when you have a MIDI CC associated with a virtual knob and you turn that virtual knob in the editor. _________________ Jan

Oh sorry, too fast with my typing...
I'm just trying to use the NM1 physical knobs as real-time controllers for automation/general real-time twiddling within Reason 3.0. So, as usual, I've assigned virtual knobs to some module in a patch, then assign a CC# for that knob to transmit when I move the physical knob. I've used this setup before for real-time control of DAW software, etc.
Now back in Reason, you can setup a parameter for what they call "remote" control via an external controller. They have lots of preset control definitions for common controllers but obviously nothing for the NM1. But they let one pick "<Other>" and then specify what kind of controller it is, i.e, Basic MIDI Keyboard, Basic MIDI Keyboard w/ Multiple Controls, etc. I've tried every one of these but with no luck. As I said before, Reason detects messages on the right port when I wiggle my knob, but never sees the CC#.
Any ideas?
thanks,

Not realy, the NM side should be OK the way you do it - and I know nothing about reason. _________________ Jan
