I did this one using a layout by one of the guys over at DIYStompboxes.com... The etched graphics didn't come out perfect...better luck next time.. Its pretty much a straight up APC... I like it Smile

Looks great to me! Cool
The best way to get into DIY electronics is by starting with something small and simple like this. If you take on something too big, and it doesn't work out, it can easily dampen your enthusiasm. That's what I used to do, back in the 80s, when there was no internet forum to go looking for answers on.
Why it was soooo baadd! I ad to meaake sythesiser frompt shoebox!!! Laughing

Nice, like the etching. I made one for a friend and just finished working out the bugs on mine. I put a switchable ldr for one of the pots. Its a nice simple little circuit so I figured it was time to mess with a little mod or two. If you make another you should try to mess with it a bit, nice job again!!

YES! Very nice - is the labeling done with that press'n'peel etch method - can't find the link to the tutorial for that...

and nice to see it on the wonderful matrixsynth blog

yeah that's the guy that really helped me out with etching. I'm still working on the etching thing... I've only done two other etched boxes previous...

an uglyface I made for the same guy, "Phenso"

and this over-etched industrial looking one... this was a happy accident that I hope to work out an actual process for...

anyone who wants to build one of these APC's from the same layout should use Choklitlove's pcb layout... its simple and is verified to work.

if anyone is interested, I'll have one of these available soon... I am in the process of making a small run for friends and a certain canadian Smile and it looks as though I will have one left over... not trying to get rich... just just halfway into a process where I'll have an extra...

That over etched one looks very interesting. I can envision some really amazing looking boxes using that process. Ahh, those fortunate accidents...

I think the overetched look would look cool with an HR Giger piece...MC escher stuff would be cool too...but very intricate

Nothing new to add design wise, but I built it and did some analysis. If your interested check it out at http://www.robthefiddler.com/electronics-audio-diy/circuit-experiments/atari-punk-console/

Man, It;s a pretty nifty lil circuit. I plan a nice "steampunk" version soon. i will add optical pitch/ pots w switches option. I also will do a varible cap version based on the pdf below.I had bad luck with the vero board 566 version, so i opted for the robthefiddler version with the two 555 ic deal.
I gotta scrounge up some 470k or 500k linear pots! I got every value BUT those!

I will post it here and on my flickr site.
Once again, thanks to all the inspiration from the posters here! Mike
