yep. where did you get these potentiometers? i order mine from futurlec. they come with only one nut - as you might know you will need two: one behind the panel hold the potentiometer in the correct distance to the panel, and one to fix it. i order the additional nuts from banzai. _________________

they fit perfectly as you can see from my posted picture above (the link actually)... |
I bought the knobs you recommended from RS a while ago and tested them on an Alpha pot and they worked great. I didn't test them on my print-outs of the front panels I'd be designing in FPD though. This morning I thought I'd place a knob on a print-out but the knob is too wide! It covers up the scale completely!
I measured the diameter of the base of the knob and it's more like 19mm than 13mm. I've double checked my invoice and I know I definitely ordered the same knobs as the ones you recommended (299-4957). Do you think they gave me the wrong knobs? Do 19mm knobs exist?
I have a panel from Schaeffer coming in a couple of days so I can put the knob up against that - hopefully I just printed out the panel in a weird scale. |

ouch!
maybe they changed something with their part numbers?
according datasheet: the 13mm knob has a 17,5mm skirt, the 11mm has a 15,5mm skirt. i definetely use the ones with the 15,5mm skirt!
i don't know what happened here! _________________

Heh, I should have double checked the datasheet before I ordered!
How about these ones: 299-4783? |

Don't be silly - it's no trouble at all! It just means I have some spare knobs lying around which could come in handy at some point. |

I've used those paint stiks for the last couple of panels and they've come out really good. Unfortunately I really need a blue and the site Fonik linked to doesn't do blue paint stiks. Looks like I'll have to get the blue infilled by Schaeffer. Does anyone have any examples of the two different blues Schaeffer provide as their infill colour? |

Hey LettterBeacon,
I haven't checked the site lately, but I was able to get the blue infill crayon by buying the package color set--- as opposed to buying individual colors. They didn't have the individual blue crayon for sale when I bought mine either.
how are your panels coming out? I want to add something here that may be somewhat heretical and could be completely redundant, but, I'll say it anyway--- although you'll save a lot of money coloring in your own panels, you won't really get the same professional look, IMO. The crayon infill method works very well-- but it's not quite as solid--Just so you know before hand. It's not totally the same-- I would only recommend it for anyone whose primary goal is economic. |

Cool, I'll check out the package, thanks for the tip!
I'm very pleased with the crayons I've used so far. I did find that I had to go back over certain parts a few times but in the end it all filled in perfectly - it did take a little while though. When I get a camera I'll upload some photos.
EDIT - Can't seem to find the package of crayons on the Micro Tools site, do you have a link? |
