Do appreciate the compliment Chris. I believe Howard does pose a good question though. I believe I have an obvious answer and that is "no", a hand crafted work produced by anyone does not have to be at the apex of workmanship to work well. In my profession, is HAS to look good and function well. It looks neat because I have done it for many years.
I posted some examples of my prototype work in case others wanted to construct the MPS without waiting for PCB's. It takes longer to construct a circuit but it is rewarding. Admittedly, I have turned more and more towards custom PCB's for my DIY work but many years ago, it was not as cheap to get them made and I did not have that much cash anyways so "perf-boarding" was my method of choice to build tons of circuits through the 80's and 90's.

I agree, that was just my way of saying how amazing your stuff looks.....
I think I do a good job and in no way think it is crap or anyone else's for that matter, just Bill's DIY looks wise is on a whole other level than mine.
If all my work looked like that when something breaks I don't think I would stall as long to let the troubleshooting begin. _________________ -

I tend to do pretty neat wiring. Some would even say obsessive craftsmanship. Yet sometimes I see a veritable rats nest of wire, which works perfectly, and it feels quite liberating. _________________ What makes a space ours, is what we put there, and what we do there. |

Hey! I 'm also tempted by the idea of building it on a proto board, but I 'l wait for the PCBs, so that my part of work will be easier
Also, I choose to use a transparent panel and so boards will be visible and my circuit building skills are not at all the same as state machine! _________________ http://soundcloud.com/mister-vommi

I can confirm it! I read it yesterday. My only doubt is about the shell modulation switch (S3): on the fourth schematics page (mixer section) the switch's middle lug is written to go to j2, but it actually have to go to j7, the switching jack that is the shell's CV input. But I 'm pretty sure that it was just a writing error.
I also took a look on Tom Bugs wiring diagram: http://electro-music.com/forum/phpbb-files/mps_connections_v1_133.pdf
and don't understand how the shell CV mode switch is wired. _________________ http://soundcloud.com/mister-vommi

Thanks Tommi ! I have always wanted to build transparent cases myself. What would even add more to the effect would be to illuminate the electronics with some white LED's ! I believe part of the art of electronics is also in the electronic assembly itself. I believe any electronics enthusiast would agree that since they were small lads, myself included, they always wanted to see the "inside" of the box

That's a good idea! In the past I was thinking about using a 12VAC lamp for illuminating the case's interior, feeding it directly from the transformer's secondary. But an led will drain less current of course...
And maybe the lamp's inductive load between transformer and power circuit would affect power circuit some way that I don't know _________________ http://soundcloud.com/mister-vommi

Good eye. Yep, that'll have to be corrected.

Actually - yeah. That's a good question. If we could get any date time frame GUESStimate as when we could possibly be seeing boards, I could decide whether to build my own drum voices for now, or wait. I've got my Liquid Hihat done. Now I just need some dedicated bass drum (loved Thomas's years ago.) and other percussive noises. |

A littlebit more of a Communication here would be very appreciated.
To wait is ok, to wait longer is ok, i don't expect lead times,
but i would like to hear from time to time Timeframes within the MPS will be NOT coming.
thanks |

Sorry for lack of communication. We were waiting for income from the Klee boards to fund the MPS board. The 3rd Klee run sold out in about one weekמ once we got both boards in, so this is now going to happen sooner than later. Thanks everyone who bought the Klees.
I'm going to order the MPS board as quickly as possible. I've not done this kind of ordering before, but Scott wrote me a nice tutorial.
It's not fair to say I have been asleep at the switch, but it would be to say that I have been slow at the switch. The most important thing is that I'm at the switch and these should be available in a few weeks. _________________ --Howard
