Hi

I am quite interested in buying a Nord Lead 2X to get the Nord sound, as the Wave is still quite expensive and would probably wait for the next Nord Modular to get the samples, just hope it comes soon Razz

But I was noticing that the original Nord Modular can be had for about half the price used compared to a Nord Lead 2X.
Since I heard that the Nord Lead 3 and Modular G2 have different kind of sound compared to the older Nords, I was wondering if the Nord Modular (G1) has the same kind of sound to the Lead 2X and if it can emulate the Lead 2X, if the same synth structure is programed into the Modular.

If so, what are the advantages of getting a Nord Lead 2X compared to a Nord Modular, as the first ones new cost more than 1000 euros and the Modular can be had for less than 600 euros used.

Thanks in advance
Best regards

Paugui

welcome Paugui,

Wout experimented a bit with this, he did have some trouble getting the exact same sounds IIRC - maybe he will chime in here.

BTW, I removed your double post.

Thanks for those links.

Unfortunately they are comparing more the G2 to the Lead 2X, and unfortunately the G2 is more expensive than the 2X.
Right now I wouldn't want to spend that much, as I would really like to get the next Nord Modular version.

By the way, is there any rumor about a new version of the Nord Modular?

And right now I am thinking if the 2X would be really a good choice... but that isn't for this threads section.

Best regards

Paugui

P.S. - Sorry about the double post...

Right, I was acting a bit too fast ... this is the G2 section BTW ... I'll move it to the NM Classic section.

And here are some emulations of some Nord Lead for the NM Classic. No idea how they map sound wise, I tried to find some info in the mailing list archives ... no success though.

There are no rumors about a new Nord Modular currently.

I was thinking they could be preparing a new Nord Modular...

So if there aren't any rumors, a new one is probably still one year or more away, right?

And if they wanted to add the new features that are available on the Nord Wave, mainly the samples, would that be possible to do on the actual Nord Modular G2?

Thanks in advance
Best regards,

Paugui

I don't know for sure but I wouldn't take for granted that there will ever be a G3.

I hear Clavia didn't make much money on the classic or G2. They are doing pretty well with the stage series and the fixed architecture products.

I can't see a G3 making economic sense in the near future or possibly ever.

Sure there will. It will be called the Arturia Origin. Wink

But does the Origin architecture resemble the G2?

Apart from the clone module concept, is the Origin a better G2? Shocked

By the way, any of you know a store in Europe that still has the Nord Modular G2X for sale and can send them to Portugal?

Best regards

You cannot compare the Arturia Origin to the Nord Modular in my opinion. The NM (G2) has far more possibilities and a much better sound!

Personally I feel that while they are limited Arturia's products have a very good sound. Let's not forget that the sound you get from a soft-synth will depend on the soundcard used.

To my ears the NM isn't that far in sound character from the Lead2 but further from the Lead2X due to different DAC's used, the G2 is closer to that but there it seems that the algorithms used affect matters more. It very much depends on what you want. I wouldn't compare the NM or G2 to the leads; I'd try to compare them to the sounds I heard in my head, to me that's a much more interesting frame of reference.
