I'd go for 4...maybe you could talk the wife into a run of 250?

Given your rep, I'd be willing to pay in advance, but that may open a can of worms....

I'm planning to build a quad lopass gate and would MAYBE like to order 4 of these. Maybe, because a dual or quad board would be much better - and not much bigger. Most of the PCB space is taken up by power connectors/caps, board-mounted pots and... well, space. Smile

There's IMHO much to save in making them at least duals... and take a look at what quantities people want them in. Make them duals and go for 200 boards in the run. She won't notice. Cool

I'll take 4 as well if you're able to make more, or 4 from the next run. Thanks!

If another run is on the cards, I'd like to buy 4 boards,

Thanks for getting this together

Hopefully that would mean I'm in with a chance, as my post was only the second one after the boards had all sold out Wink

I hope with this kind of response it's not too late to up the run or get started on a 2nd run right away.

sorry, if this was already addressed, but given the volume it might make sense to do it more as a group buy, so that we pre-pay and you then have the funds for any size order--not out of your pocket.

I'm ok with that, given the current price (if I'm reading correctly) of $10 or less per board.

another Idea would be to decrease the number of the fisrt batch a little bit, and make the second one after Holiday time.
I could move into second batch.........maybe some others too.
so we would reach better a good number of boards for the second run.
just a Thought....

Since it looks like board numbers are heading into the hundreds looking at other board houses might be an option.

Ok guys,

I never though demand would be what it is. I am still going to order and test the prototype boards as a single section. If there are no bugs I will move to production. I am at work right now and am going to "run the numbers" for a double PCB tonight when I get home. I don't just mean money, I mean some possible board design changes. NOTHING for sure!!!! If I do this (make a dual board), the pots will be like the attached image. Or the following from top to bottom on a panel with mode and level pots floating from wires to the side:

Offset 1 Level 1
Resonance 1 Mode 1
Offset 2 Level 2
Resonance 2 Mode 2

Jacks on the bottom.

This would allow for two units per board and give me space to add a second op-amp summer stage (maybe two more). NO GUARANTEES at this time. I need to look at the design and see what I come up with. Of course, even with board mounted pots, one could wire the PCB anyway they'd like. I would like to keep the PCB's small for mod purposes, possible guitar pedals, and Frac Panels folks.

Does this pot arrangement make sense? I think due to the mixer stage being assignable by jumpers it would not make sense to add a pcb-based pot for either CV or Audio. I'd rather leave that up to the user, hence the floating pots.

My main concern is that I got approval from Don to do "single section" PCB's. People have commented about the ethical process I have taken to start this project and I don't want to take "the dark path" or to jeopordize the blessing from Don in the first place. He sells Quad units and so will Cyndustries (maybe). Peter does Dual at Plan-B. No one does single with resonance except Doepfer but I am not putting on a Euro power connector. These are the factors I will take into consideration in my final decision. Again, first I will make sure the single unit is bug free. Second I will decide on the "potential" to make dual units after careful consideration. A few things for sure to address some of the posts that have come in:

1. I will not be removing the PCB mounted pots. That is the benefit for me of putting this project together. I want them that way. Sorry if this is wrong for your build, but these are initially intended for the large format modulars.

2. Power filtering circuitry is a must and will also stay (aka "take up space" on the board).

3. I will not be changing PCB manufacturers. Express PCB costs me more to get done, but for an amateur like me I would not have had PCB software that made sense to me without their free download. I guess this could be called brand loyalty. Thanks though, to those who have offered their services in redesigning the board. I kind of want to keep it "mine" so I have something of my own to be proud of giving back to this community from which I have received so much.

There are a number of things that "could be different", but going back to my first post... I am NOT a designer and am simply wanting a quality product for those out there like me... a regular builder with increasing, but still rather limited, knowledge of the inner workings of these beauties we create together. Adding the summer stage was hard enough, and I am still not sure if it works yet. So with respect to this info, I will consider maybe going dual... but not yet. Respectfully,

Thomas

Hi all, first time poster here.

Lurking here for a week and I like very much this place. Very Happy

Beeing interested in circuit bending the low pass gate, I discovered this thread, and started to inspect the files posted.
I hope it is not too late, and I think I'm not wrong, but it looks like there is an error.
In the schematic posted at Mark Verbos's site http://www.simple-answer.com/DIY.html and here http://www.hylander.us/images/schematics/buchla/ the signal that returns from the last opamp (the one at the filter audio output) to the 4,7nanofarad cap is colected from the output of the opamp (after the 10K feedback resistor).
In both schematics and PCB files of Fonik and djthomaswhite, the signal is colected before the 10k resistor, from the inverting input of the opamp (of course there is negative feedback signal from the output of the opamp at that inverting input).
I don't say it will not work, just the schematics and PCBs from the four sources are different. I was under the impresion that the schematic at http://www.hylander.us/images/schematics/buchla/ is the right one (original?).
Please anyone can check and confirm?

I had posted in the original thread before it split that I was in for 2 PCBs, am I still counted in with the 200 or do I have to wait for the next batch?
