i'm a drummer and new to NORDing, i have a G2 engine.
i have a couple of drum pads and a full set of kit triggers and i want to control my G2 (via the sequencer modules) without using a drum brain (that turns the pulses into MIDI data. I recently saw a drummer (andre duracell) doing this with the same equipment.

I've tried doing what seems 'logical' (i.e. input - logic pulse - sequence - osc - output) but when i hit the pad it jumps three or four sequencer steps or more depending on how hard i whack the drum pad or drum with a trigger attached.

does this make sense to anyone?

can anyone help me?

thankyou

Waz

You could try going Input>Env Follower>Compare to Level (set high)>Seq clk input.

I've never really tried this but the the envelope follower should smooth the signal down in to a contour rather than a full audio waveform. Smile

it totaly works but every time i press a key on the virtualy keyboard it changes the osc to that pitch (thus changing all the notes my sequencer plays, they are the correct intervals but not the right notes)

should i just not use the virtual keyboard or is there a default note i can press?

can't find any help in the manual... sorry!

cheers

Well there are two options.

1. Change the OSC's to KBT to off. This wil set the OSC to the default pitch or centre pitch (which is E4). Now as the sequencer sends notes to it, they will add or subtract from this centre value and thus sound the notes/keys you have programmed.

2. Hit E4 on the Virtual Keyboard and thus achieve the same effect.

Option 2 gives you the freedom to change the key/root/centre note of the piece if you need to, Option 1 makes sure it sounds the same every time u load it up.

Very Happy

If you do anything clever with yr new drum synth, get it posted on here.

Cheers

R.

thanks again, its making more and more sense now!

my band (Super Adventure Club) are working on having synth sounds that we all control (drummer, bassist and guitarist) without using MIDI, we already use a G2 that is tracked by the guitar and controled by him with an expression pedal, so i'll post some patches up if we succeed!

thank you so much for your help, i don't doubt i'll need more at some point though,

Cheers

Waz
