Spectral obstruction Subject description: About using only a specific part of the audible frequency range

| Hello everyone
Im working on some compositions that only contains frequencies above 10kHz.

It is part of my bachelor project (Im studying electronic composition).

Have anyone heard about other composers limiting themselves in this way? Or maybe putting up similar obstructions to themselves in their compositional work?

 Thanks

10 kHz? I guess they'd have to be under 40 years old or so

More seriously, I have heard of composers limiting themselves in somewhat analogous ways. Check out a suite by Georgy Ligeti named "Bagatelles." The first movement uses only a single note (in all octaves), the second movement uses two notes, and so on.

Well, my professor doesn't hear anything above 14kHz and has some pretty strong tinnitus-drones between 10 and 14kHz so it actually is a big problem. I have generatied some soundfiles in the frequency area and he practically couldn't hear them. So I guess he is not of much use as supervisor:-)

Very interesting. I will look into that.
And if anyone has heard of similar ideas and especially written theory on the subject of obstructions in compositional work I am very interested!
 Thanks!!!
