Been lurking awhile. Figured I should start participating since I've gotten so many great ideas/schematics from this forum.

Here is my work in progress. It's sort of a mutant Lunetta, as its not strictly CMOS (hope everyone can forgive me). I decided to do banks of similar modules (filters with filters, dividers with dividers, etc), rather than separate face plates for each module.

So, from top to bottom, left to right:
- 3x 40106 LFO/clocks
- Pulse width divider (one input, 3 outs)
- 4040 divider
- 3x 40106 audio range oscillators (with power starve, inputs for FM, and a jack for external pitch control)
- 2x passive tone controllers
- WSG VCF
- Circuit bent Barbie echo
- Getlofi.com delay kit
- 2x 2-to-1/1-to-2
- Passive mixer with output volume control

Casper Electronics does things with barbie electronic toys. He really knows how to bend stuff and has audio and video examples. He has a barbie echo for sure. Very Happy

I seem to be coming back to this thread quite a lot. Inspirational to say the least. I have nothing to show just yet, only a pile of breadboards all over my floor! I'm already seeing that the briefcase idea is not going to be big enough for what I have in mind. Maybe a shipping container might be more appropriate!

Lots of Lunetta fantasies going on here electro-people! Lots! All I know is that it's going to be a big bastard of a machine like the interior of a spaceship! No working machine yet, but it does have a working title: THE CMOS 4000! And yes, it will have the capabilities of realigning moon orbits, plugging black holes or destroying entire planets! Twisted Evil

Ha ha! ...well that's the general idea! Pictures soon... in about 2035 or so give or take a year!

HA HA! Yeah, a bit like the HAL9000! Got a load of screen grabs from the original Alien movie. Nice space ship interiors there! Actually, for some great sci fi modular inspiration, check out the 70's UK/German tv series, STAR MAIDENS. Heaps of ideas there! Just watched your new video Rich. I can see my house ending up like your pink room in due course.

Time to get out the sonic screwdriver... or was it the sonic soldering iron? Got a space ship to construct!

Here's a vid showing the current status of my lunetta. Just a few ocillators connecting to a 4015 shift register, then to the r/2r and yavco, and the melody gen also connected to the mixer.

I am using styrene for my panels since I had some lying around and I went the bolt route as far as interconnects. Nothing fancy; just showing that even some of us busy folk are still building the Ultimate Machine Very Happy

Eventually BlobbLor will be housed in a slanted wooden box I've built and the overall vibe I'm going for is low budget sci-fi. Not many leds right now...baby had other ideas Laughing

! But there's always room for them as more free time comes my way.

BlobbLor consists of:
40106 oscillators
1 X 4015
1 melody gen
1 X 4040
1 X YAVCO
1 X NAND, XOR, AND, NOR's
an R/2R ladder
a 4 input mono mixer using an opamp
...and some other scientific stuff Wink

WELL DONE! I second Bruce! Those panels look really great!!! I can't believe how much you have got done! With a baby just born, this is remarkable! General Tjookum will be moving you up the rank when he sees this! Laughing

Yeah, those PANELS!!! LOVE 'EM HEAPS! And here's a good example of how alligator clips can look aesthetic and sophisticated on a minimal looking panel. I particularly like the way you have arranged each modules pins as an individual work of art. Alligator clips and nuts and bolt pins are a much more affordable option than banana plugs and jacks... good example of what can be done for prospective builders too!

Love those crackly sounds too! Must track down some shift registers...

And thanks for giving the forum a jolt of electricity! I was thinking it was dying a sad death over the past week. Exclamation

. The styrene was something I used as a faceplate when I modded my Epiphone Valve Jr. amp. Not too flimsy and super easy to drill. I don't have the time or funds to do the fancy panels; so I ride the "Lo-Fi" train Laughing

Still deciding if I'm drawing/painting on the panels...right now I 'm focusing on boxing her up. I still have one empty space left for another panel I believe...maybe the 4051 cv gen, another r/2r and vco Idea

I'm pretty sure I'm gonna go the alligator clip route too... I want modularity, but banana stuff costs way too much. Seems like this is a happy middle.

holy moly, that's looking great Draal! Loving the lofi theme, keeping the lunetta spirit alive. And thanks for going the extra length and shooting a video. A photo and some samples go a long way, but video just works really well for explaining what everything does.

The panels look great. really liking the nuts and bolts technique. The 4051 can be a great addition to your lunetta, as you might have noticed with the melodygen, the ABC inputs are great for jamming in signals and it's one of the most versatile ic's you can use. Another option for the empty space would be a sequencer, but this is more usefull after you've got more modules to control.

One thing im missing though is the leds, for visual reference and overall wow-factor they are invaluable to a lunetta. But all in good time, You've already got a lot done in between diaper changing!

Here’s another vid of my lunetta progress. It’s been a little quiet around here so I figured I show from a noob’s point of view, what sounds I can generate so far. This time I’m messing with the 4040 connecting to the melody gen and a 4093 nand module. Hopefully, it shows how sounds can be altered when certain connections are made and broken.

Forgive the shaky cam vibe and the lack of editing; but maybe people just getting into this lunetta hobby can get a sense of the fun to be had.

I agree on making the video to show people how it actually works, when I first got mine working it felt like cheating. After beeing told for years that diy synthesis was something for the electro boys with basic knowledge and such, mine just worked Very Happy

Nice video Draal! Great Lunetta sounds happening there! Good for aspiring Lunettists to see what happens when you plug and unplug things.... The sound really started altering when you turned the oscillators. The last white clip you re-patched at the end was good too! Very Happy

I'll keep a look out for your vids! The explanations are useful too.
