the dudes over in the lunettas forum have seen this, but here is my 10 step, 7 oscillator synth/sequencer. It has a filter and sort of triangle LFO as well hardwired to the filter. All cmos.
Not the clearest photo, sorry.

Actually they used to be a fairly large "Do not enter" sign. You'd be surprised how many panels you can get out of one road sign. I also picked some aluminum sheets from Skycraft but I haven't cut them up yet. _________________ When they plug me in the lights go down in Hong Kong.

Ah! They do look similar to ones from Ace Hardware. If you have one nearby you should check them out. They come at something like 5 1/2 by 10 _________________ Youtube!

A project I'm trying to finish this year... Hand drilled panels take some time!
The panels are made from angled aluminum, great for very securely holding pcbs, This thing is pretty hefty though. I'm wondering if this is the first Dotcom to banana jack conversion.... The difference of having banana jacks has been great for me so far. I tried to shrink the whole system down and combined quite a few of the Dotcom modules to occupy one panel, thus having more room for more goodies.
Modules: (some pictured some not finished)
2x Dotcom VCOs
Dotcom Slew/Env/Spring Reverb
Dotcom Trans Ladder filter
Dotcom Midi/instrument input
Dotcom VCA/Mixer
Yusynth EMS filter
Yusynth Ringmod/Sample&Hold
Wogglebug
3x LPGs
2x 281s
CGS VCO

Nice! I like the style, and how unpredictable it is visually. It looks like something that would be fun to play with. Not sure how easy it is to find your way around... Are you planning to add some labelling? |

Labeling is largely unnecessary!!!!
Just develop a logical flow and it all just makes sense, especially with random non conformist layouts like those above^^^^^ |

Here's a little build I just finished. It's a CMOY Headphone amp housed in an old 2.5" (laptop) Hard Drive external case. I'm quite pleased with how it turned out.

Nice job !
Had you used the Burr-Brown OPA2134 dual audio amplifier for this project? I know that I have seen two OPA134 single operational amplifiers for this project to better the isolation.
I am finishing up on a nice high quality LIN/LOG VCA circuit design with panning and I am using the OPA2134 throughout the design, even in the control voltage buffering where noise can even get coupled into the control voltages.

NICE Look about that modular!
And are those knobs made from wood? (GREAT looking knobs.) Could it be that someone else in the world besides myself, has made knobs from wood? (Wooden beads used as knobs by another chap, not really counting.) |

Those knobs are cool. Are those legends burnt in using a soldering iron?? |

Thank you!
The knobs are different colors for each module as well as in different pattern configurations so it's easier (and quicker) to "read" than traditional labeling... But, I'm speaking for my self of course.

Bill,
I used an OPA2132. I was limited in supply voltage by the physical space. 9V battery would not fit in the case. The input caps were ones I had on had that were being thrown out where I used to work. I ordered the Stereo pot / Power switch on line. So far, I havent experienced any crosstalk or intermodulation that I can detect. I'm quite pleased with the build.

Thanks guys!
The knobs are short lengths of eucalyptus branch seasoned for a year or so with the bark on.
I took sections that were roughly circular, 18-23mm in diameter, cut them to about 20mm long, beveled off the top, and cut a flat down one side. Drilled an 8mm hole in the back, filled with Milliput (two part room temperature setting epoxy clay), pushed in a pot shaft (covered with Vaseline) and pulled it carefully out before the epoxy had set. The markings are burnt on with a pyrography tool - guess a small soldering iron would work, but this is purpose built, with a variety of tips. Lot more work than placing an order with Rapid, but I quite like the result - though some are rather eccentric!

Peter,
I gottta tell ya, that as soon as I saw your build, I was reminded of a certain guys work in Canada I have always admired. Most well done on the knobs. They look/feel i-ching, ancient and timeless at once. Grabbing hold of a piece of wood and wrangling analog wonders from their turning seems fitting somehow.
Well done. |
