I use a G2 Engine with a GEM S3 as a controller, which has poly aftertouch. But the G2 only responds to channel aftertouch. Surely it would be simple to to make the G2 series respond to poly aftertouch from an external controller - it's a highly expressive function! The G2 is one of the most powerful synths out there but I'm surprised it can't handle poly a/t via MIDI in.

welcome to our forum, Batfink.

I've never played anything with poly aftertouch. What style of music do you play, and do you have any music we can hear where this is used effectively?

I did and it's great. it was a Kurzweil Midiboard a long time ago at Berklee but I still remember it as a great feeling. a string patch, for example, comes to life if played with polyAT. it looks like implementing it on a keyboard is too expensive and many users would find it useless Crying or Very sad

Poly aftertouch is great. It is quite useful!

Funny you should mention it. My first MIDI keyboard was a Kurzweil MIDIBoard. Very nice action.

I still have it, but I don't use it any more because it started acting flakey. I don't have any synths that work with poly aftertouch anyway.

I have an Ensoniq ASR10 that has poly aftertouch and indeed on certain pad sounds it is indispensible(?) Confused (nice i mean...)

I second the wish to at least implement the capture of poly aftertouch, but better yet make the G2X send it Shocked
I guess that's a nice wish...for a G2XX

To send Poly Aftertouch the keyboard needs to be equipped with sensors on each key, which is expensive and relatively rare on synths. So, don't expect the G2X to be able to do this.

Reception over MIDI is another thing and also quite useful when a G2, even an Engine, is sequenced from a MIDI sequencer program. Here it would be the way to 'modulate the accent on an individual note' by a simple single MIDI command. So, as it is not only useful for gifted keyboard players it is definitely a nice option.

In addition it would be nice to have a MIDI Poly Aftertouch Out module, to record individual modulations on individual notes in a sequencer program.
