Hi all
I am about to design a panel for my 2 resonator pcb's and I was wondering what is the most preferred audio input/ output configuration while using the resonators .
My panel is 100mm x 250mm and I intend to squeeze the 2 triple resonators together with only one audio in and one audio out for each pcb (a selector switch will set series / parallel / independent audio routing of 6 resonators or dual 3 resonators ) .
I already have 4 sv-vcf's in the modular system , so my thinking was I don't really need the individual in's & out's to each resonator , which will give me the required space to fit the 2 together.

Just finished one on stripboard with hand rolled "vactrols" combining the old and the new schematics. From the new i only took the improved CV control and because i ran out of space i omitted the LFO. Well it worked from the start and it sounds really cool but still miles away from the quality of Foniks brilliant Demo-Vids.
So now i'm a bit curious how to trim this for best results. The associated LED for each channel becomes there really handy i guess.
With no CV in and pot totally CCW turned should the LED be completely dark, slow glimmering? When the pot still is turned fully CCW and CV is added should it start to blink slightly but not as bright as when the pot is fully turned CW?
How do you have trimmed your resonator channels?
Ah... and before i start to trim the current for the channel LED to it's lowest end i should use a 1K (or maybe better 470R?) resistor first, to have nearly equally currents and brightness with the LED's in my vactrols, right??? _________________ https://soundcloud.com/bastian-j |

Well think i got it and the best sounding results out of it... and yes that sounds cool... 2 channels behave very close to each other only the 3rd has lower output signal with same voltage applied to the vactrol LED... time to roll some more vactrols if new LED's come in and match some of them so that should fix this too... _________________ https://soundcloud.com/bastian-j |

wow... is this Vactrol stuff really such a current sucker???
measured, as i was a bit curious, the current consumption on my resonator after i trimmed it to the for me best sounding results... there i got over 80mA on the positive power rail...
now after i have changed the LED resistors to 20K each and put a further 1K8 resistor in series for the Vactrol (having 2,27K as series resistor now) i could tame the wild beast down to 30mA with all frequency pots for the channels turned fully on and having a slow sine CV into all 3 channels...
2,2k for my home-brewn Vactrols was the highest value before it starts significantly affecting the behaviour of those...
After all and some moments of head-scratching i'm very happy with this module and love it's great sounds... will have some fun with it and maybe post a short clip of it... _________________ https://soundcloud.com/bastian-j |
