16 step vari-clock sequencer with 3x16 gate controllers. Subject description: Completed sequencer |
 |
|
Hi folks,
I just finished Ray Wilson's 16 step vari-clock sequencer that is also expanded to include 3 additional 16 step gate controllers. There is a couple a 'gotcha' areas with this build, but it is well worth it and will allow me (or anyone else who wants to play with it) to build extremely complex musical arrangement for live performances.
Many thanks also to the folks on this site who have posted their build notes. Otherwise I may still be scratching my head looking at the scope.
Here is the build and images:

very nice build , i like the pale blueish colour
I ended up cannibalizing my one from years ago to make the super sequencer build.

Thank you. |

Thank you for the comments. Oh and thanks Dave for the info on the trimpot you posted a while ago. That saved me hours of agony.
I am always looking out for new ways to build cool panels for synths. In this case, the panels are made from vinyl sticker material I get done here through a local printer. They are heavy duty vinyl, take a beating pretty good and I can print up to 48"x36".
I modified the panel layouts from the MFOS site in photoshop, had them printed for $14 each (yep, that is fourteen dollars Canadian). I then stuck them onto cleaned .060" aluminum and then drilled out the holes using a step bit from the front (sticker side). The reverse or pot mounting side just needs to be deburred a bit. Like I said, these vinyl sticker can and do take a beating pretty good.
The printer says he can go 220 dpi which is pretty substantial resolution so I imagine you could do some pretty awesome panels for any synth. Laying them down requires a slow, methodical process to avoid air bubbles. _________________ Young enough to enjoy techno, old enough to remember a Z80 and tiny-C. |

regarding your stickers , have you tried peeling the sticker off the backing paper & sponge with warm soapy water (washing up liquid is great) soaping all the adhesive , you can adjust it easy for a while before leaving to dry on neswpaper , i did that on all the modular panels, works a treat, give it a shot on a bit of scrap panel
Hold the panel up to the room light to see if corners are square when wet adjusting

That is worth the try |

Thank you Dave,
Brilliant suggestion. That would be worth the try. I usually get 2 printed of in case I mess one up, so I have extras to try it with. _________________ Young enough to enjoy techno, old enough to remember a Z80 and tiny-C. |
