I teach at a middle school, and my dance teacher (unfortunately) coreographs to music by people like yanni.

She needed me to chop up a piece by him that's solo piano. I was messing around with effects on it, because, like most of you I bet, I can't leave anything like that untouched.

So, I ran it through a ring modulator with a fairly low oscillator and got the whole thing to not just sound like a gamelan orchestra, but REALLY COOL. I have a tad bit of appreciation for his music, now. If you can wade through the garbage timbres, there's actually a bit of content in it.

Unfortunately, I bet she wants the wistful piano playing. I should have burned her my modified version to see her freak out.

She's giving me more later, I think I'll mess with one of the tracks in the middle and see when she catches it.

I'll see if I can get it up later - unfortunately I've got a few projects that are due sooner than asap, if you know what I mean.

lol

Ive been doing music for a professional dancer and she just improvises , its really cool cause there is nothing fixed , she doesnt know what im playing and i dont know how she is going to dance. And very unexpected but people seem to like it.

You should try and get the dance teacher out of her cage...

One of those tachyonic tasks.

Used in several episodes of Star Trek, in the 22nd century Starfleet vessels couldn't produce tachyon particles.

BTW, is the dance teacher at the middle school, or do you take a dance class?

I did a report on tachyons in my last year of high school physics class back in 1972. It looks from the link that there has been an awful lot of theorizing about these implausible "particles" in the last 36 years. Almost certainly non-existant and, if they do exist, almost certainly undetectable. Shocked

Human endeavor never fails to amaze. Razz

A tachyon is nothing more than a gluon that's not quite dry.

Any more (theoretically) improbable than the deBroglie wave or entanglement? However existence is put together it's most surely put together with some very weird shit. Shocked Not that I'd count on seeing tachyons detected Laughing

Here's the Yanni with my manipulations. I rand it through a ring modulator with the other source being a sine wave at 4000k. I think filtered out the 4000k as much as i could so I wouldn't go deaf. Also added some reverb and compression on it to make it loud enough.

The other stuff she wanted me to do wasn't nearly as bad. Prince is actually the start of her routine. I was tempted to do something to the disco track (5th of Beethoven), though - but couldn't think of anything sinister enough.

Musically I think it works well. My only reservation is that I think it made my ears ring. Perhaps you should look at it on a RTA to see if it's a bit top heavy?

Yeah, agreed.

Of course, this started out as me fooling around. Now I need to develop it a little more and well.... write my own piano part. Then I'll worry about the sounds being too caustic.
