Please post details of your power hook up... Looks like goes to Doepfer?

Yep, mine's connected to a Doepfer power rail, plucking happily using +- 12 volts
For those preferring to use a dual vactrol, heres how to do it (Thanks to Ilanode for explaining it to me). Make sure you isolate the crossing legs well and don't mix up the anode and cathode of the led. |
Thanks for the dual vactrol advice! I just picked up a couple in a trade and was wondering if they would work.

Ok, show and tell time. Just finished my version of the complete bells and whistles version. Based my panel on Thomas Whites design, with several changes.
The back - unlike previous builds, I didn't have to use cable ties this time - the wires all seemed to fall into place on their own.
These images and more are on my flickr page, if you want to see bigger images -

Thanks Thomas (and team) for the great pcbs! It sounds fantastic!

I used an Epilog laser engraver that I have access to. The pictures don't really do it justice. I'm repeatably amazed at how well laser engravers work. We should all go in on a group buy for one

Sduck, vey nice job.
Can I ask what the CTRL input is? is it just a straight in CV? as you went with 2 other CV inputs.

Yes, the control in is just a cv in without a pot.
And hopefully Dustin will post pics of the back of his LPG after he wires it all up - he showed me some of his work the other day, and his wiring is incredibly immaculate. And it's pretty fantastic looking from the front too! |

What is everyone doing for the 50KΩ resonance mod resistor? I've not managed to source a 50KΩ resistor anywhere. Can I put a 47KΩ and a 3KΩ in series to make this value, or is it not critical to get it exact and get away with a 47KΩ on its own?
Also, must the 4.7MΩ resistor be carbon? I only have metal film |

Metal film is better, so just use that one.
As to the other resistor, 47k probably will be fine (usually it is, but I don't know the circuit). _________________ Jan

The edges and lettering look very much like white silkscreening in the picture, but they are actually the aluminum showing through where the anodized black layer is lasered off, yes-no? There doesn't appear to be indentations there though like a CNC would do though, is that correct?
Looks great!
Cheers

Woops! Sorry for the delay in responding. The panels are drilled through FPE (but I have a drill press now so I might start doing them myself *if* I can find a place to source anodized cut aluminum (anyone???)).
My employer has an epilog laser engraver that I used for "etching the panels". From what I know it actually is chemically changing the anodization to a pale off white. It's a very specific look that I like very much.
Oddly it feels raised and not as if it removed any material.

| I have made three of these, and all have had a problem with the CV input cutting out at times, acting unstable, and changing in response to touching the faceplate. Anyone else noticed this? Possibly just a problem with my system interacting with this particular module. Running it off of a Blacet power supply. |

Hello Thomas!
Is it possible to order a couple of low pass gate PCB´s?
All best

I'd really love to see made available again as well. I've made a quad version already-- but I'd like another.
Any chance of this PCB seeing production again Thomas? |

From page 1:
"I just got the approval from Don himself to put together a one-time PCB run for the Mathias (Fonik)-based PCB layout of Don's classic Lopass Gate."

Ok, I finished putting together all of my pcb's, and put numbers 2 and 3 behind this panel. I've got fast vactrols on the left, slow on the right for some variety.
I'd like to thank fadedata (Dustin) for inspiring to clean up my behind the scenes wiring - there's still room for improvement, but it's a lot better than previous efforts.

Thanks, Mono-poly.
A question - I've got these fairly expensive trimmer pots sitting on the pcb's of these things, and have no idea what they do. Does anyone know? I suppose I could just start tweaking the things and see what happens, but I'd rather know what I'm looking for first. |

I asked about this earlier and here's what Thomas said (it's an offset trimmer):
Adjust offset to "taste". Just allows you to set the offset swing of the pot to a lower or higher range. |
