I'd be up for 4 more boards if you do a run.

Cheers

then you should really think about building a simple square wave LFO and throw it in your LPGs. CVs are all the fun in VCFs Wink (especially the vactrol based LPG).

Indeed!
Or an envelope follower
or a 5V foot pedal...
Ya gotta get ya some voltage.

Spratty, you mention stomp boxes-
are you using this on guitar?

Cheers
Phil

sorry Thomas, I just realized I'm highjacking your thread...

Hello fonik & doctorvague

Yes I probably should Wink Any suggestions? Temporarily I can borrow an MF102, it has an LFO, so all I'd need is a trs cable to plug that in right? With CV the voltage goes to the tip? 0-5v+ cv is ok for this circuit?

I saw the Buchla Envelope follower in another thread - might not suit this that well though...

Yeah, I'm thinking electric guitar, my playing might not be all that great (very beginner), but in previous times I've been a bit of an fx/scifi sound design junkie. Guitars/synths + fx = fun.... DIY synthesis was probably inevitable ... Wink

yes. try using the pulse wave. this will give you the vactrol experience...

I'll take two boards if another run of PCBs is made. Maybe eventually I'll build them! Very Happy

I would certainly buy a few, I was away and just came back to the board after the first ones had gone. Can somebody fill me in (still reading 20 pages of this topic) is this circuit for regular 10v audio levels, or Buchla audio levels?

If there's another run, I'll commit to 6 boards!

I finished one today, i'm not particularly proud of the panel, but i thought i'd chuck it up here.
I had 3 audio ins & 3 cv ins, but found the 3rd inputs a bit too much for my needs, so trimmed it back to 2 of each.
Also, i couldn't find a 50k resistor for the Resonance mod- so i used a 51k, and it seems a bit squishy near fully CW. I wonder how important the value is here, does anyone know?
My other pcb probably won't have the mixers, just direct inputs.
Thanks again Thomas & everyone else who made it possible!

Hi guys,

Just a bit of an update here...

Another run? I'm super down to get one together, but I have been unlucky in communicating with Don Buchla. I have now sent 4 emails to him and have not been able to get a reply. He was very VERY nice to approve the first run. I was hoping for a quick approval for another one. I have stated many times I will not do one without his blessing in honor of his design.

One needs to realize the situation (to my knowledge, correct me if I am wrong. MANY people have done (made commercially available) Lopass Gates now without Don's approval including Doepfer, Plan B, Cyndustries and Make noise. Each design has had small changes from Don's original design like mine does. Remember, mine removes the switching IC from the original thanks to designs posted on the web and therefore public domain. My changes are adding the mixer section for Audio and the Mixer section for CV, also from designs in public domain. So, am I really doing something wrong by making more of these without permission from the master himself?

I know desire for these, as shown by the posts here and the emails directly, will influence people to say "No way dude, make more!!!" but is that really the case? Who can give legal advice here? I want to make more, but don't want to be a hypocrite either. Many have contributed to the success of this project since Don's original design. If Don says "no" or I can't get an approval I will not make anymore. But...

What are your thoughts on this out there? Maybe I can post my board designs for public domain so at least people could get them made on their own type of thing? Thanks in advance for your opinions!

Thomas

Did Don originally say "Yes, i approve, but only for a certain number of pcb's"?
Maybe his silence is his way of saying that he's already given approval.
If anything can be said of Don, he doesn't look back.
But if i was in your position, i'd call him on the telephone.

i'll try to remember to ask him although seriously i can't imagine him doing anything other than giving the green light.
