G2 PCI DSP Card |
 |
|
Just a thought... probably isn't at all feasible!
I've got a powercore PCI system at home. I absolutly love it! How cool would it be to bring up an instance of the G2 within your native sequencing package.
I'm not talking about bringing the editor up within the sequencer, just the reference to one of the DSPs within a virtual instrument slot.
The editor could run as it does, but you would be editing sounds on the DSP card directly rather than the synth.
The sequencer references the DSP slot you are using in order to trigger midi / controller events, send midi clock etc...
As I said, probably isn't at all feasible, but hey this is a wish list after all! |

If you use a sequencer track to control a G2 via MIDI, isn't that pretty close to what you are wishing for? What difference does it really make that the G2 is attached via MIDI or on a PCI card? _________________ --Howard

Actually, I think it would be great as a CreamWare plugin - no latency and very flexible routing |

I really like the G2. Don't see any need for a computer-based system. Wouldn't buy it if they made it. |

It makes still more sense to wish for a G3 with the same integration features the new Virus TI has. _________________ A Charity Pantomime in aid of Paranoid Schizophrenics descended into chaos yesterday when someone shouted, "He's behind you!"

It seems like the Virus integration features could be incorporated into the existing G2 design with a few exceptions/limitations. The USB is only 1.1 - so that is going to limit the audio in/out capability (it still may be possible - since there are other USB 1.1 audio devices that work very well - it just depends whether or not it can exist with all the other stuff that would be going on over USB).
Even without audio, it would be nice to have the editor work as a VST plugin with MIDI in/out capability. |

I am just guessing here, but I am pretty sure that the current G2 will never be upgraded to something like the TI ever. if this integration shows up it will be in a "G3".
the G2 engine could be put on a PCI card, but Clavia would have to do some serious work in order to add the good stuff. From my point of view the G2 is excellent the way it is. _________________ A Charity Pantomime in aid of Paranoid Schizophrenics descended into chaos yesterday when someone shouted, "He's behind you!"
