I'm looking for any info on the variations on the original Synsonics.
Looks like the Pro model came out in 1984 and I saw I confusing print ad implying that Gretch had purchased the brand.
Mine (Model 5381) does not have the MM5837 noise IC and instead uses a noise transistor and op-amps. Unfortunately this unit is extremely noisy and it seems like the "VCA" for the snare drum is either damaged or needs to have its bias changed.

Did this ever get a service manual or at least tech bulletins showing changes? Or did they just take returned units and bury them with E.T. The Extraterrestrial cartridges in New Mexico?
