MANY UFO SIGHTINGS WERE REPORTED IN PENNSYLVANIA

For the past month, UFOs have appeared over many cities and towns in Pennsylvania.

On Wednesday, November 11, 1998, at 9:30 p.m., a witness observed "a white fireball" crossing the sky from east to west near Greensburg (population 16,318) and Jeannette (population 11,221), two suburbs about 12 miles (18 kilometers) east of Pittsburgh. "Debris and white sparks were falling from it as the object passed through the sky."

On Monday, November 16, 1998, in Penn Hills, another Pittsburgh suburb, "a motorist observed four UFOs over a 10-to-15-minute period. The objects were reportedly square-shaped, were at a low altitude and displayed red flashing lights and three white lights. One object reportedly moved closer to the witness before moving off. No sound could be heard from any of the objects."

On Sunday, November 22, 1998, witnesses in Allentown, Pa. (population 105,090), a large city on Interstate Highway I-78 approximately 66 miles (105 kilometers) north of Philadelphia, "reported sighting five silver disc-shaped objects moving at a high rate of speed from west to east. Their observation lasted 25 seconds."

On Tuesday, November 24, 1998, at about 3 p.m., a motorist in Wilmerding, Pa. (population 2,222), a town on Highway 130 just east of Pittsburgh, noticed two contrails in the blue sky as he drove along. The contrails formed "a perfect X." Pulling over to the side of the road, he left his car "and noticed a silver-gray object (like the fuselage of a helicopter) that rose straight up from the contrails and quickly speeded through the sky above them. It then shot straight down into the contrails and then it was gone from sight. The object displayed no contrail." (Many thanks to Pennsylvania ufologist Stan Gordon for these reports.)

This is wierd. This is the first I've heard of the sighting here in Allentown. All I can think is these sightings may be related to the fact that we have a few good micro breweries here.

I've seen lot's of UFO along Interstate 78, but they went away when I cleaned my glasses. Now that I've had Lasik surgery, the little green men leave me alone. Rolling Eyes

I haven´t found any good abduction reports for the Allentown area. Hmm... no abductions? I believed abductions to be the latest craze in the US.

I think the craze may have peaked. All the abduction stories sound the same. Laughing

If I were to get abducted on I-78 during my next journey to Pittsburgh, I'd have to question the aliens why on earth they want a specimen from Allentown... Shocked Question

I'm catching up on over 200 posts since the last time I was on electro-music. This has nothing to do with UFOs, but the Brown Mountain Lights are an unexplained phenomenon that I have witnessed twice. My friend Bob Ashmore and I have gone to try to view these lights every year, except for two, since 1995, for a total of seven times. Check out this picture that I took during my September 2003 trip. I bought a digital camera less than a week before I took the picture but had already learned how to play with some of its settings. This picture was made using a 15 secind exposure time. In the period of a few hours, I saw these balls of light appear, move around, and then fly off the top of Tablerock. My position was a mile away, across the Linville river gorge in western North Carolina. Enjoy!

Fascinating. What are the various conjectures concerning the nature of these lights?

For a 15 second exposure, the light seems to be fairly stationary, for that period of time at least.

Tablerock is roughly 4000 feet above sea level and the Linville River between it and my viewing position is 1400 feet below that. So the 1920s-era government explaination of swamp gasses doesn't hold water as there isn't a swamp around for hundreds of miles in any direction. Bob and I met a professor from Appalachian University in nearby Boon, NC, who has found no reason for the lights after years of study using sophisticated and sensitive equipment. There are no government installations under the mountain. Native Americans have witnessed these lights since before the white man came to North America so no human-made technological reason exists. North Carolina is extremely rich with mineral deposits so perhaps ground flexing generates electricity or plasma balls or something. But that is the best conjecture that Bob and I can come up with on our own despite no geologic faults are in the area. We've hiked the area extensively and that is the best we can figure. UFO technology has been proposed but there is, of course, no evidence.

There is a similar place with the same kind of phenomenon not far from Trondheim.

It's called your bathroom. Wink

I dont believe in unreasonable explainations. Surely there is something rational and, most likely, quite simple, afoot here.

Of course there must be a rational explanation.

Yeah its got to be something rational, I mean what space monsters going to stand on top of a mountain flashing its photon beam for so many generations? you'd think it would get bored and come down and zap some earthlings or somthing.

Unless lits like the playboy alien in Hitch hikers gude to the galaxy who has nothing better to do so he just comes down every so often to freak out the natives.

Some related readings

http://www.ghosts.org/ghostlights/ghostlights.html

There are many theories and legends surrounding these mysterious lights. Some scientific attempts at explaining the lights include reflections from nearby traffic or towns, ignited gas from marshland, and, where ghost lights exist near faultlines, some sort of sub-atomic particle reactions. Common folktales told by the locals usually involve ghostly indian braves, phantom trains, or UFOs. Unfortunately, encroaching development in many communities has seemed to extinguish some of the old reliable ghost lights, indicating that the lights probably do have a natural explanation.

Perhaps it's holography experimentation in association with the notorious "chemtrail" phenomena that's been all the rage recently. Spray a bunch of colloidal shit up into the upper atmosphere to project holograms on/into. At least that is one of the postulated motives behind it.
