Hey Minus!
this might sound a bit dumb but im new to electronics and modulars.
so there is a CV out in your schematics, so do I need an external VCO or can i directly plug the baby 8 into an Amp??

Hey there!

Yes, this circuit only sends out a DC control voltage, so plugging it into an amp does not produce anything audible (you would hear some clicks though). You're right! You'll need something that can be controlled by CV, such as a VCO for creating a voice.

I'm also fairly new here (taken up electronics/modulars roughly a year ago) but if you have anymore questions, I'll try my best to answer you.

Although it might not be its intended use you could run it at a high frequency and use it as a custom wave shaper.
Can be nice if you use a VCO as the CLK but keep in mind that the output frequency will be a fair bit lower.
