Metamorphosis Subject description: Funky acid trance - 9+ minute .mp3 attached |
|

Hi.
Not much to say really... here's something I've been working on recently. My first experiment with 'semi-random' generated music. I can see I've still got lots to learn about making it sound less random, but I'm quite impressed with it myself. It's kind of like some weird improvised acid jazz trance bouncy house, or something like that.
I've used a modified version of my Drum machine patch (attached here: http://electro-music.com/forum/topic-7037.html)... a really handy patch!
Anyway, the variations in the song go on and on, so the .mp3 example is quite long... sorry if you're still using a dial up connection.
Have fun
<<Edited>> Once I found out this patch wouldn't work on an unexpanded G2, I went back to work, filling up unused DSP. I have attached the new updated performance in this post. I have also attached a longer version .mp3 for any unexpanded G2 users interested in hearing more of the performance and a shorter version for those using a dial up connection.

Oh sorry, I thought unexpanded G2s might be able to get 1 voice out of each slot... just as well the .mp3 is a reasonable length. _________________ Sheridan

I can't play the perf, but the mp3 sounds really cool. Are you just letting that run? Or are you tweaking as it plays? |

Just recorded it as is... the different sounds have different playing time cycles, so they come and go and every so often they link up, ie. hats, kick and bass cuts together. They could be set to more irregular settings to randomise it further, but... meh. Also variations in note probability are controlled by LFO's, some global, others solo, so it also sounds different depending when you press run. No tweaking needed. _________________ Sheridan

I just loaded this track up to remind myself what it sounded like. Now I have to admit that I have been e-mailing and browsing, ie. not solely listening to the music, but it took about 40 minutes before I realised that I had just been listening to the same performance!
In fact, that was probably 10 or 15 minutes ago and it's still playing. I suppose the point I'm trying to make is that... er... well... you can listen to this performance for ages and not hear the same tunes/patterns. Hah... you could probably just leave it on all night as background music. _________________ Sheridan
