Yes! please share the file Tom, this is very close to what I want to do, and I use Front Designer too, and you are right, it is a cranky program, but does the job.

---I'll do this later this evening. I did the panel drilling today and realised a slight error on the location of the panel mounting holes at the top - some had got accidently shifted - luckily I noticed this before hole drilling!

And I'm darn happy at how the slider slits have come out! Freaking loving the CNC power! I used an end mill to pass over slicing 0.25mm each pass gradually cutting the grooves - took a good couple of hours but I made sure not to rush and f*** things!

The pic looks a bit smudgy - I'll be re-cleaning and giving the panel another coat of laquer. I actually did the laser-transfers before drilling the holes - this seems to work out just fine as long as you apply several layers of laquer to make it tough and then tidy up a bit afterwards...

Ohhh, I really want to get everything mounted now!

Wow, Tom !!! Freaking awesome !! I love how the slider pot slits came out and the line graphics running perpendicular to them. I wish I could mill things !! Very nice work thus far man ! Very Happy

I know what you mean about mounting all the hardware. It's like putting the finishing touch on a new sports car like pin stripes and other ornamental detailing. Sometimes you get itchy just to see it materialize Cool Cool Again, very nice. As I mentioned, the diversity in our panels is amazing.

Thanks Bill! Yeah, itching indeed. I did just try mounting one of the sliders just to see --- perfect fit, nice and secure with their own mounting holes, and totally free running on the sliding! I had great doubts about how this'd work out so I'm well relieved.

Panel drilled, parts mounted here. Igor holds the panel for front and rear shots. Positively Soviet-Era compared to all the other groovy panels, but it'll do for me...

Okay, now I'm feeling well and truly catatonic! Shocked
I haven't even got my front panel yet, let alone drilled it!
I can guarantee though that it will be a completely different flavour again.
The PCBs and harnesses are coming along quite well though.

BTW, absolutely beautiful work done by all!
(I like the Soviet utilitarian style Scott. It has a Frankenstein's lab meets Flash Gordon set effect which is ominously functional, and very underrated! Very Happy )

Ok, here's the BugBrand panel for 10 width Frac.

Notes:
* I think I got the mounting holes right now! I didn't put the full 10 holes in, just four top and four bottom.

* There's a few extra bits to help laying things out - thin red line top and bottom that shows roughly where the Frac mounting rails are. And there are outlines for the pots/sliders etc

***
-- I didn't include the Random Input Level control
-- I have an extra clock circuit lower left
-- I ignored the Opt.CV outputs (CV outputs before glide)
-- there are four mounting holes marked near the bottom around the Bus3 line/label -- these may, actually, need to move up a little -- in general, the panel is just a little too 'tight' top-to-bottom - it does *just* fit into a frac rack, but its a little fiddly. The top is fine other than the big rotary switch - the body of this actually sits partly over the top mounting rail - but this works fine in practice!

That is a work of art, as are the other panels. The file works properly, thanks to you and the others for all your hard work on this project.
Anyone know where the BOM is? this project covers a few threads and lots of messages, and I have'nt been able to locate it yet.

i am not that far in process to show an finished panel yet. in the past i used to finish the electronics first and then to order the panel afterwards.
maybe now is the time to do it different? it is very tempting to see all your nice panels!

this is how mine will look like: input controls to the left, programmer in the middle, outputs to the right...

Nice panel Fonik! Very Happy
I like the green. I'm thinking of going blue, but a bit different to Bill.

No that just happened to me too. I think it's because the file the image is linked to is at 1:1 scale?

Kewl panel, indeed Fonik!!

Hey y'all - I changed the name of this thread to reflect what is more-or-less has become - the Klee Build Thread. Hope that doesn't throw anybody off or anything.

Cheers,
Scott

Guys,

These front panels look great!

State Machine, your graphics are really slick!

Scott, your panel looks like a handful for Igor!

Tom and Fonik, I like the slider idea, they really show the settings at a glance and you can put them closer together than normal pots.

I can't wait for you guys to get your Klees to start Kleeing! Smile

Regards,

Tim

Yep, Tim, once they're built, we should get them all together and let them frolic around in the grass (cracks me up picturing your Klee at the window when it heard the Klee Kall) Very Happy

I'm pretty much at the same point as Bill is with the panel wiring, though I still have a bit more of that to go. I've got 3/4 of the cables put together, so I'm thinking pretty soon we'll have the Klee's up and percolating.

Sorry this is taking so long for all of you waiting - all of us proto-builders are forced to squeeze Klee proto time in amongst our jobs and family obligations, etc (just like most everybody here with every project, actually). But, we've got a healthy proto-builders dialogue going.

As I mentioned to them tonight, I haven't found anything difficult yet in the build. In fact, it's easier than a lot of my other projects have been to put together. The main thing is, there's a lot of wiring, and that's where most of the time/work is, but even that is made easy by Andy's PCB layout. I've chosen to go the connector route, and that makes it even easier, because you basically wire everything to the panel when it's laying out on your table, and then you just...plug it in!

We'll have a nice build doc to follow, and we think you'll likely find it pretty easy.

Cheers,
Scott
