I everybody, I want to introduce myself. My name is Brannan Lane. I'm sure there is a lot of people that don't know me. I'm an ambient music recording artist. Please check out some audio samples on my site: http://www.brannanlane.com

Here's a little info to get you up to speed on my ambient efforts.

I have recordings on a few labels. Emit Records, Space For Music and Ambient Circle Music. I have a number of solo releases and have collaborated with Ashera, Amir Baghiri, Robert Carty, Vidna Obmana, Biff Johnson, Zero Ohms, Jason Sloan, and Matt Borghi. I have been featured on "Music From The Hearts Of Space", "Star's End", "Musical Starstreams", "Emusic", "Echoes", and many more outstanding radio shows.

I hold the #1 spot in the "Top Releases Of 2002" - Ambient Navigator. Five cds on the "Best Of Year" - Backroads Music. #1 and #2 "Best Selling CDs Of 2002" - Space For Music Records. Charted on Wind and Wire's 10 Favorite Ambient Recordings and also have tracks on the brand new Emit Records Compilation CDs.

My newest cd is a special project entitled DISTANT FRIENDS (A Compilation Of Collaborations) Featuring Amir Baghiri, Robert Carty, Biff Johnson, Brannan Lane, Vidna Obmana, Zero Ohms, & Silvercord. (All tracks are previously unreleased.) Now officially released and shipping to your mail box.

Next new release will be this August. PIANO DREAMS & NIGHTSCAPES - Brannan Lane. An audio sample is now up for this coming project.
genre: ambient electro acoustic music. label: Ambient Circle Music

Anyhow, thank you for your time and attention. I hope you feel like you know a little more about me now. Please feel free to contact me and introduce yourself as well.

Peace,
Brannan

Welcome Brannan!

I did check out your site some months ago and found a lot of great music. I think I posted something about that way back? I tend to forget such things. Very Happy

Hehe.. I should probably have a private discussion with myself about what to put up there. I closed my other site .. I had a phpnuke powered site with lotsa content, but I decided to fold that one and hang around here instead. Elektro 80 has been my private music project since like 1977/78 and I have recently been recording a lot of the old material in order to finish two CDs: Utmost Savagery ( Volume one) and "last station on earth - music inspired by the stories of Philip K. Dick. I have been a bit distracted the last two weeks with another project called "..the last remaining restraints of the normative state.."
Howard has kinda tried to make me see the light and use my own name and he has set up a forum for me at: http://electro-music.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=69

Nope. No labels are interested.

Release them yourself. Or go to smaller labels and submit to them.
Do you have the tracks on a cd as a complete project, ready to release/mastered, etc...?

Well.. I haven´t quite decided if I will release the lot myself. I have no specific wish to run a label myself. I have had some interest from some small labels but their track record has not been that good. I would prefer to keep all the rights as such and just do a license deal for print runs or whatever.

Not at the moment. I have not mastered the lot yet. The mixes available here are mostly just exports with all track sliders open and with no particular attention to clipping or whatever. I know I should have been more productive but when I get back to old material I often rewrite the score and pay a lot of attention to performance details. Our dear old friend the B. Lustmord is always kicking my ass and telling me to get the material mixed and mastered.
Hmm.. it seems to me that your thread has been hijacked.. Shocked Very Happy

Sounds familiar Mad
And even if you find a label that is willing to release your material, you still have to be careful that they don't steal your well-earned money
(see Einstürzende Neubauten, Front 242, The Neon Judgement, and many more).

Music Biz is just like anything else, there's good and bad people out there you just have to try and make smart choices...
