Surely they know things you don't know, only what is it they know what you don't know?
Maybe they think the Wave doesn't sell that quick as it is supposed to do and after all make a buck before the market is stopping completely... There is a crises going on, specially in the States

Perhaps Clavia have finally come to their senses and have realised how bleedin' expensive their gear is?
It's boom or bust in an impending global recession... muhahahaha!
Virtually everything that is made in Sweden seems to cost a bloody fortune! (Cars, synths, SIDstations, furniture, wood..... )

Could be -- but so far, the sale appears to be limited to this one dealer; the others I've seen are still selling it for a full grand more. Weird... |

Good questions, and I wish I knew--especially because it's just this one dealer who seems to be doing it.
The thing is that the Wave seems to be a fascinating but significantly flawed instrument. If I knew that when the new USA distributor takes over, the price will go back to its previous value and stay there, I would be seriously tempted to take advantage of the sale now, on the basis that I could probably sell it in a year for what I paid for it if I'm disappointed.
If, on the other hand, Clavia has a replacement already in the works that deals with some of the flaws, then it's a different story entirely. |

I spotted a red wardrobe last time I visited Ikea. Is that a hint?

I have a feeling the pricing has something to do with the US distributer. Armadillo is no longer the official distributer for Clavias product. I just placed an order through Instrument Pro, an online dealer from California, and got the same price that Nova Musik was offering. There drop-shipping my order direct from Armadillo. Me thinks when Clavia have there new distributer in place the prices offered by Nova will return to normal. Grab one while you can! Or two, and sell one for a profit. |

I have no doubt that the price drop is somehow connected to the change in distributor.
The question is what will happen when the new distributor takes over.
A year ago, one dollar would buy a little more than 6 Swedish kronor. Today, one dollar will buy approximately 9 kronor. That means that if the price for Nord products stays the same in Sweden, either they must drop substantially in the USA or someone will make enormous profits.
In today's economy, I would expect the USA distributor to accept lower profit margins in return for higher sales (or maybe any sales at all). |

A while back, we got a new Nord distributor in Canada, and as a result, the prices went down a bit. |

Anyone tried this yet? Seems too low, but I think NovaMusik is supposed to be legit, right?
I tried a price match at ZZounds and they said:
"Unfortunately, we cannot compete with a price that is below dealer cost for this item." |

My bandmate actually just purchased and received his Nord Wave last week from Novamusik at said price, so it is very legit. It arrived brand new and was obviously not a refurb or return. So I would say take advantage of the price while you still can. |

Wow! I finally just clicked on the above link. That price is amazing!!!
Somebody should jump on that. If I could get one in Canada that cheaply, my visa would be in a lot of pain.... |

Jumped on it! Got free stuff thrown in too.
I'm so excited, I've wanted one of these since they came out. Would have loved those LED knobs like the NL3 but it sounds worth it for the samples. |

Congrats vortx21! I think the Wave is an awesome instrument. They have so much memory and they're so lightweight too. You could probably midi up a pad and trigger samples on one slot and play synth parts or other samples on the keyboard with the other slot... that's pretty cool...
I wonder if you can set the slots to transmit on separate midi channels... Hmmm.... must investigate.... |

How does the size of the sample files on Nord's download site compare with how much memory they occupy? Putting it another way, does the Wave have anywhere near enough memory to accommodate all the samples on the website? |

that's a good question. It seems unlikely to me that everyone would want all of the samples from the website. Withe the Nord Stage, for example, there are a lot of piano and harpsichord sounds that I'm not likely to use. I personally would want to put my own stuff in the Wave to have a simple and reliable way of triggering samples for live use.... AND play multisampled instruments too. And bitchin' analog like tones
Of course, if you were bumping your head against the ceiling, you could load and save samples on a project by project basis. When you consider the total waveform ROM of a Motif ES is 175MB, you can begin to appreciate how much the Wave's 180 can accomodate.
And unlike my V-synth XT, the Nord will support traditional multisamples with looping... |

| If I understand things properly, the Wave comes from the factory with 165 of its 180 MB already full of samples. On top of that, the library of string sounds alone occupies 110 MB, and there are bunches of other libraries as well.
I understand they don't have to be loaded all at once, but if you want something that's not there, the only way to get it is to use a computer to install it. |
