Nice to see you around here, Scott. I don't think I'd seen a picture of your modular before. Very nice.

Thanks fac, it's nice to see you here. I only added that bottom cabinet last week. Between the stuff I have on order (more STG Time Modules) and the DIY stuff I have lying around (Buchla Low Pass Gates, Klee, YuSynth Diode Filter), it will be completely maxed out. I'll have to "go wide" to add more.

Update 1-7-2013 My synth continues to grow so I thought I would add a recent photo. This shows my synth-controlled CV X-Y laser. Details are on my site.

That's a beautiful system, Dave. What kind of keyboard is that? It looks fantastic!

It is an ARP 3604 keyboard. The original black case was pretty trashed so I just made a new wood case to match the rest of the system.

I thought it looked familiar... much nicer looking than the original ARP 'board, though, I think.

I was on vacation in San Diego last week, and paid a visit to the Museum of Making Music, where they are currently displaying "Waves of Inspiration: The Legacy of Moog", the first public display of the artifacts from Bob Moog's archives.

Lots of stuff in the show that I didn't get pictures of, but here's a few I did:

These two are Moog's first prototype synthesizer. From the note on the wall: "This is the first fully completed prototype built by Bob Moog from July 1964 to the summer of 1965. The prototype belonged to Herbert Deutsch and was used in live public performance for the first time in a concert at Town Hall in New York City on September 25, 1965."

My favorite bit: Kieth Emerson performed a concert at the museum to kick off the exhibition, playing his classic "Monster Moog" modular. After the show, he left it on display with his patch still intact.

Thought this was interesting: at the bottom of Emerson's rack were a couple of modules clearly labeled with ELP song titles. Anyone have an idea what these are for?

I'm guessing that these lower modules are a form of preset. The small group of what appear to be hex nuts are likely preset pots with a 1/8" shaft and a hex locknut on top. I've seen these as surplus many years ago.

I sold most of my 19" racks and bought three "monster racks" from Doepfer. They where on discount after a fair, so the 2nd hand prize of my racks did nearly pay the monster racks. Anyway, they save space and are possible to move for gigs outside.
On the right side is two Zerooscillators, that are too deep to fit in the Doepfer monster cases, as well as a Frack Rack and two racks from Analogue Systems. There are also some Metasonix modules, and two Moog modules.
As far as this it works good, except that the CV modules on the far left is very far away fro the Sos and the Moog modules. An old Roland SH-09 is keyboard CV source, and a Doepfer MCV24 translates MIDI to CV and gate.

Great to see you back on the e-m forum, Per. Your studio looks like a place anyone would love to spend some quality time. Wink

Rob Hordijk was here for a visit after electro-music 2013. Rob installed a new module for my Moog Modular, a Node Processor. This module is one of the elements of his Hordijk Modular System which he demonstrated at the conference. It has a very advanced an unique cross-connect routing panel. Other ingredients are:

2 VCAs
3 LFOs
1 MIDI input unit
2 One voltage quantizer with many built-in scales
1 Clock with additional 1/8 output
1 Transposer
1 Gain
1 Offset
? More stuff I've yet to discover

This is a great complement to my Moog.

Rob said my Moog needed some additional capabilities to get me interested in playing it again. He was right.

Rob's designs are original. Like any good instrument, it beckons one to try new possibilities. The build quality is superb. Once you get used to it, the ergonomics are splendid.

Thanks, Rob...

A couple of months ago...

I've added a new cabinet of 5U dotcom stuff and have a 10U rack coming in for the remainder of the MOTM not in a rack. I'll share the rack with some Mos Lab vco's and filter due in a few months. Running low on cables now (again).

Here is a picture of the Buchla 200, Studio 4 EMS Stockholm.
This Buchla is from the late 60's. It has been working for over 40 years on a daily bases now.
Daniël Areya, head technician EMS, talks about this Buchla 200 system
at the Concertzender 25-02-2015. Also, see this post:

You could probably all do with a laugh, so here is my DIY'ed synth (YuSynth modules (Yves is a GENIUS), Frequency Central, Klee, and some EFM. Plus other clever people!)

Posted Image, might have been reduced in size. Click Image to view fullscreen.

Squarely in the realm of "I need more cables, longer ones, and a 5U dotcom cab to put the Tau Pipe into."

And yes, yes that is a box full of Erthenvar cables and Euro modules. And yes, the case is bloody full. (Hence the GatSynFace sitting on top.)

The String Ringer pedal would be there as well, but it's somewhere in the middle of two feet of stored pedals, right now (between the box and the big shopping bag sitting on top in the spare room.) Lovetone Ring Stinger clone -- ring modular with CV in, VCO out, and all kindsa fun crap.

Finally finished the cabinet -- the busboards are screwed in.

All that remains is to build enough modules to fill it up completely Smile
