I've just bought a Nord Wave. However, I'm not completely satisfied with the preset sounds, and were going to add some new with the Nord Sound Manager, when I found out my USB Driver were too old to be compatible with that program (I already had installed the newest OS and installed the old USB Driver (2.02) at this point). Then my question is - how do I update to the v2.16 USB Driver? Reading the manual didn't help me much, other than how you install the USB Driver by using the Wizard the first time you connect your Wave to your PC. Quite useless at this point.
My second problem is when connecting my Wave to my PC with my MIDI cable. It asks me to install the device driver software. Which software is this?
These might be quite some newbieish questions, but I'm completely new to using synthesizers. |

First download the driver and unzip the folder if needed. Then I suggest you try one of the following two possible procedures.
First connect the Wave to the machine. Next, right-click "My Computer" and select "Properties." Then click the "Hardware" tab and select "Device Manager."
At this point, you should be able to open the node marked "Sound, video and game controllers" and see the Nord USB driver. You should now be able to do one of two things:
1) Right click it and select "Update driver..." You'll get a hardware update wizard. Select "No, not this time" when it asks about connecting to Windows Update, then click "Next >", "Install from a list or specific location," then "Next >" again. Now click "Don't search. I will choose the driver to install" and "Next >" again. Then click "Have Disk..." and navigate to the folder with the driver.
2) If this doesn't work, right-click the driver and select "Uninstall" to remove the driver. Then power-cycle the Wave and it should let you install the new driver.
If neither of these suggestions works, please tell us what you did and what happened, and maybe I can figure out something else. |

Thanks a lot for quick answer. This solved it.
However, I still wonder which software I should use to connect via my MIDI cable? |

I just split this thread from "Opinions on the Nord Wave" Thread.

In this case I need it for composing purposes, but I'm asked to install device driver software when plugging the Wave to the PC via MIDI. |

I think you are telling me that you have the Wave connected via USB to your computer, and that the Nord USB driver version 2.16 is correctly installed. Are you saying that when you (also) connect the Wave to a MIDI port, you are being asked for a driver again? If so, the only source I can think of for that request is your MIDI hardware, not the Wave, so I can't help you there.
If I'm not understanding correctly what is happening, can you tell me the exact sequence of steps that leads up to the request to install the driver, and the exact form that the request takes? |

I might not be very good at explaining.
What I do is connecting from MIDI Out on the Wave to my PC. I then get the Found New Hardware wizard, asking me to locate and install driver software. Is there any kind of MIDI driver I should install? |

If not, what did you use to connect the Wave's MIDI output to the PC, and what kind of connector on your PC did you use? |
