Hi guys

i bought ceramic capacitors and i'm not sure that i bought the right ones.
i'm asking coz i see this pic that explains how to connect the caps from the Schematic of the sound lab plus.
its C15, C25 and C26.
Posted Image, might have been reduced in size. Click Image to view fullscreen.
and from the parts list i understand that C15, C25 and C26 are ceramic caps.
in the electronic store they said that this is the ceramic cap so all the ceramic caps i got is this type.. (as you see it looks very different)
Posted Image, might have been reduced in size. Click Image to view fullscreen.
its the right value but is it the right type?
should i get all the ceramic caps like the red one?
what cind of cap is the red one?

and for the non polarized alominum caps for C13 and C22 i got this..
Posted Image, might have been reduced in size. Click Image to view fullscreen.
its non polarized and the right value for sure but is it the what i need to use?

and for C4 and C5 they give me this type.
its very very small, but its the right value.
Posted Image, might have been reduced in size. Click Image to view fullscreen.
should i get some other type?

sorry for the stuped questions i just want to be sure.

thanks from advance and Merry Christmas everyone where ever you are Smile

Hi bruce and thanks for u'r reply Smile

so.. for C15, C25 and C26 i dont need to use the red polyester capacitors like in the pic above? its ok to use my blue ceramic caps as long as they are the right value?
so whats the differents between them?

just for my personal knowledge can i use the polyester capacitors insted the ceramic capacitors?

isak -
I think the value tolerance is not as strict for the ceramic caps - like 20% compared to 10% in the polyester.
I'm not really sure of other differences between them.

Isak, take a look here regarding types of capacitor:
http://www.analoguerules.com/capacitors.html
And for more information :
http://my.execpc.com/~endlr/

The type of capacitor depends on what job assigned job.

So for example for critic operation like timing capacitors. you should use good quality capacitors like polypropylene, polystyrene and ceramic NPO.
For the others applications you can use polyester or ceramic X7R
And electrolytic in the power supply Inputs (I have read advised as better the ones with Low ESR)

Regards.
