Hello. I was referred to this site from the Nord Modular mailing list. I like the direction this community seems headed, supporting experimental electronic music.

I have been performing with Ableton Live lately, using loops that I have created with Reason, as well as a few tweaked commercial loops to pad things out. I control 8 tracks plus 2 aux sends and pan with an Evolution UC-33.

I can't help but feeling that my Yamaha RS7000 has a fuller sound, though.

Anyway, I'd like to introduce myself and my music, which may be found at http://www.glaive.org. Two live sets are available, "Transparent Refractions" and "Groundswell." The former is a somewhat industrial excursion at 86bpm. The latter is a more straightforward tribal/house improvisation at 130bpm.

Yes, thanks for joining up. I'll be sure to check out your site when I get back from my trip to Norway.

Sheesh, back after over a year. It's been a crazy one.

Anyway, I've been working with a Monomachine SFX-60 lately, and I'm utterly floored by the universes of sound contained within this brick. It's not for everyone, but the people who like it /really/ like it.

That Monomachine looks like a great box. Do you still use your RS7000?

Yes, but I'm concentrating on the Mono at the moment, since it is very complex. I want to be able to swing on the Mono before adding the RS back into the mix. Then again, the Mono may keep me entertained indefinitely. It's redefining how I look at music.

No, in fact ;) My voice is a little deeper.

I played bass on many of those tracks, constructed loops, did sound design, and was the recording engineer.

All on a 700Mhz iBook running Live 2!

I've been working on the Monomachine SFX-60 for about two months now, and it's a great little box. Its natural tendency is to sound industrial and waspish, but that can be tamed with the powerful, albeit simple, filter. I have been getting great hypnotic analog-style sequences out of it. As soon as I get a handle on the song sequencer, I'll post some of my work.

Those are neat synths. The fellow who used to run the NM mailing list got one of those. He too said it was lots of fun. I think the name Monomachine makes it sound like a monophonic synth, which it certainly is not.

I'm going my best to keep my production limited to the MnM until I feel that I have a good understanding of how to use it.

I do, however, have my long-range sights set on the Evolver. I've never used a real analog synth, and I like the sounds the Evolver makes. Plus, it's one of those pieces that you can take to the couch an tweak while wearing headphones.
