Hi emmergent & welcome, how's life in orange ?

The problem is that there is no such thing as the best synth, there might be a best one for a certain purpose for a certain amount amount of money, but likely opinions will differ depending on who you ask.

Do you want to play the latest hits, do you want to do sound research, or what is it that got you thinking that you need a synth ?

Apart from all that, you should definitively buy a Clavia G2 synth, that's the best ;-)

Jan.

Like Blue says, there is no best. They're like vehicles: do you want a truck, van, sedan, SUV, motorcycle, etc. There are so many different kinds of synths that have different purposes. For an all-purpose synth perhaps the yet-to-be-released Alesis Fusion or some Korg, Roland or Yamaha.

welcome

Where is Orange? What kind of currency are you talking about?

Do you already have any other synth gear?

Orange is in France- I beleive?

I'm with Jan. If you have a lot of money, get a G2, alternatively,....err no, there is no alternative!

Otherwise (as the G2- and as I found out in the NM1- time will pass too quickly as you fall dangerously into staying up all night trying to figure out how one of Jan's menacing and furious mega-comatose noodles works and therefore adopting it into one of your own zillion-billion patches stored on your terra-gig hard drive;))), buy (several of) Ray Wilson's lovely DIY synths and get "hands-on"!

my 20pounds

Tom
