Do you use the demo as a "remote programming" aid for the G2? |

No, but I would if I could load all my patches! |

Yes, I know that the Demo is primarily intended to sell the G2, rather than as a convenience for existing G2 users, but - I wish that, rather than not loading patches with unsupported modules, it would just replace those modules (reverbs, etc) with simple "do-nothing" modules so that the patches could still load. |

I've seen a version once, might have been a beta, that simply refused to play incompatible patches which I thought to be pretty conveneniant. You could then alter the patch until it was playable & off it went.
Apart from what was said in the posting above the demo editor won't tell what the offendeng modules are. At one time I had a patch with two reverb modules and I failed to spot the 2nd, things like that. Annoying I thought, not good for G2 sales.
But indeed it's not meant to be a product, even though it get's being used like it ... sort of ...

This is extremely interesting. Clavia offers a software demo of the G-2. It is instantly percieved as yet another product. I can see why. I really hope this doesn´t affect Clavia in a negative way. The G-2 demo is an excellent idea. _________________ A Charity Pantomime in aid of Paranoid Schizophrenics descended into chaos yesterday when someone shouted, "He's behind you!"

I fired it up once to look at it, but I prefer to use the real thing. I think the demo is a great thing for people who want to get a feel for what the G2 can do, and maybe as an educational tool. _________________ --Howard

i use the g2 demo when i have some free time at work. we have reasonably fast machines and i can even use the onboard sound at 96 kHz.
i use it to try out ideas i might be thinking about, or listening to patches i've downloaded or have been working on. i don't mind the restrictions. i don't often use the audio in and reverb -- i do miss the midi functionality and i wish the offending modules that keep an incompatible patch from loading would be pointed out and allow the patch to be loaded anyway...
i used it on another pc with cheapo multimedia w/subwoofer speaker system to cause the tiny room, used as an office, to resonate and disturb the neighbors above a condo i was staying in because they stomped and jumped around at all hours of the night!
