Yeah, with better dsp it may one day be a perfectly viable and expressive instrument.
Not too different to a theremin, the only difference is that someone playing a theremin looks cool. |

hehe i have to admit it appealed to me on some level...
and, as g2ian said, the extrapolation of this technology would yield some very musical results
i'm running out and buying three !...well, i better wait until V2.0 heheh _________________ Spiral Recordings |

So it's just a webcam and software that recognizes the position of two orange gloves? Who says the gloves have to be on your hands?
I think this could be fun, if used completely inappropriately and if the guitar sounds can be replaced by whatever you load (VSTi, sampler, etc).
In a related story: Mimes are REALLY pissed off. |

Discreet strap-on Wacko-Jacko electrodes that emit small electric shocks inducing the wearer to give an accurate rendition of the moon-walk? Maybe I could patent this idea and sell it to them good air guitar folks. Anybody want to collaborate? |

So that's why that Michael Jackson emoticon is available.....for this exact conversation.
Maybe the Star Wars kid will catch wind of this, and will use the device as "The Force," controlling things only by moving their hands. Mother of god, this could get wildly out of control..... |

Or controlling arms, legs, hands and feet of Star War kids via some MIDI out - bluetooth - MIDI in setup. Things could get really hectic sending midi data from, say G2 random modules, in a drum and bass patch (imagine the moves you could get with variations / mutator ) There's surely a huge market out there of moms worried about their little ones turning into sofa spuds. Imagine the upturn in traffic on all forums with MIDI discussion. "Can't get my Johnny to sync to 180 bpm breakbeat loop." |

it makes me angry because i doubt the expressiveness and musical usefulness of this tool.
motion capture is there if you want it. i've imagined the possibilities and this piece of s*** doesn't even come close.
but hey, as long as they can fund their research into creating second rate guitar software as opposed to anything genuinely innovative we should applaud them.
(i mean, honestly, the japanese market has got stuff far more impressive and immersive than this already and i can buy it on my high street, not even a specialist shop. hell, i can kung fu aggressive midgets off my tv screen and i don't even need to wear orange gloves doing it...) |

A russian heroic song about invading Finland will do just fine. Trust me. _________________ A Charity Pantomime in aid of Paranoid Schizophrenics descended into chaos yesterday when someone shouted, "He's behind you!"
