I've seen and heard this random and crazy voltage generator #3 Standard WoggleBug Twisted Evil .I've put it in my DIY list. study
Before I need some info about it: first of all, does it run with 9V battery?
It has differents outputs:each output give a different sound Question
Is there a PCB layout?

Synth_Ollie --- you star! I've been wanting to do one of these for ages (hmm, actually, better not launch straight into making one 'cos I shouldn't let myself get sidetracked from other work...)

9v supply -- it probably *could* run off two 9v batteries -- maybe check the datasheet of the LM398 'cos that may not be happy at +/- 9v - everything else should work pretty much fine with a bipolar 9v supply..

I've found datasheet LF398monolitich S&H circuit (are you sure about LM398? Rolling Eyes ).It can operate from +/- 5V to +/- 18 supplies. So do you think I could use tranquilly +/- 9V?

I FINALLY got mine (a dual) working last night. had a number of errors on the PCB, which i traced out and patched one by one... still no joy, poked at it all weekend and finally found out that the neg. power line on my bench supply had wiggled loose at the source. duh. now, much fun.

there are 3 CVs out plus 3 tones, all different (step, smoothed, and woggled CV; step and woggle tone, "ring" tone). the patch i wound up with last night used one of the tone outs mixed w/ an external VCO driven by one of the CVs... vulcan harmony.

i'll try it out on +/- 9v tonight, but i'm not sure it'll run unmodified... what's the current draw for the vactrols?

There's a PCB layout here:

http://web.pdx.edu/~rfahl/img/Wog/

I've built a couple of them. The wogglebug is a cornucopia of strangeness. By that I mean good strange.

Ok i made a modcan panel layout.
It needs a double size panel from cydustries.
Unfortunely there is a little space left.
But it won't fit good in a single one.
Can someone make some beter scalings a la modcan?

Yeah that looks pretty neat.
But i think the lines and the numbers need to be a big thicker.
Because when i use them on a panel they are scaled down and can't be read that easy.

These examples aren't actual photographs, they've been done in an illustration application. I can't get an exact replica without seeing an actual front panel, but I can supply you with a dxf. You can get a dxf viewer on the net.

That isn't entirely true. Remember we are dealing with technical information here, not illustration info.

Can you make the outer circle also thick?
And please put it on the forum as hpgl?
Maybe also the first one with thinner lines.
I got the graveyard shift now but then i can check out tomorow of it looks better in my schaeffer designs.
Thanks !

An HPGL file is a file system used by Hewlett Packard for plotters.

I don't have the means to support hpgl.

Sorry.

DXF only AFAIK.

AutoCAD still plots but not hpgl.

If anyone knows any different please tell us Smile

Can you do Gerber output ? It seems easier to find gerber to hpgl than autocad to hpgl freeware. Or is gerber for pcb's only ?

hmm gerber, possibly- but not from AutoCAD. Perhaps an older version of autocad would do it? R12? dunno

a gerber file is very similar. I think the best thing to do would be to contact Schaffer. The other thing is the line thickness. I think that dxf is fine for knowing where exactly to put the holes in, but you would still have to rely on transfers for the artwork. Schaffer shallow drills into the surface of the metal. crude but it looks good- especially when the surface is painted Smile

I think the bigger, the better.
I can scale it down in the software from Schaeffer.

To come back on the hpgl item, even when its not any good anymore, but for completeness, I found :

Quote:
You should be able to 'print to file' and that should be a PLT file.

In Acad, start the plot command, and on the first screen ( of teh two: plot settings ) there shoudl be a 'plot to file' button in the loser right corner. Click that, and the plot file will be exportetd out as a .PLT file.. then choose your 'printing area and scale' and click OK..

here.
