The Digital Protoboards have arrived. Marvel at Andy's PCB'in skill! Stand aghast at my lack of photographic skill!
Here's a pic of the Digital Board, and another alongside the Analogue Board. That's the board set! Well, the prototype anyhoo

Bravo guys !!! They look very professional. Enjoy the fruits of your labor guys !!
For the prototyping effort, I just ordered all my 50K, 100K and 1M potentiometers and the rotary switch.
I have all the switches and pushbuttons already. Oh shit, have to get knobs ... crap ...
I have also been experimenting with various panel layouts that make the most "functional" sense to me. I can post those ides up on the main Klee thread ....... again, well done !!!

Wow!
I have been away from the board for a month, and look what happens! The boards do look great, and the sounds are even better. Too bad I missed out, it happens. If anybody backs out, I'd definately buy a set.
Congrats on the brilliant project! |

I'm sure Scott or Bill will be able to wangle something there CJ. I can't 100% promise, but I'm 95% sure _________________ ACHTUNG!

That's the creepy thing about it - they do float. I think that zone Andy was working in might have been the Twilight Zone.
CJ, I've been keeping a list of people who've expressed interest after the first 80 board sets were reserved, and in case someone decides they don't want to purchase their reserved board, then I'll just refer to the list and contact those people. I can put you on that.
Wish I would have had deeper pockets to go for a larger run, but 80 pretty much kept me on that fine line of not totally freaking the spouse out
I don't know if there are enough interested parties to do a second run, but I haven't really mentioned this outside of EM, so maybe so(?).
Cheers,

Yes Scott, like the "modular.net" group. I am sure matrix-synth will put in a word also if a second run is planned ........

Excellent work to all involved! I can feel it getting closer. On the subject of rotary switches though, does anyonbe know of a compliment part for the Futurlec type pots? That is, a rotary switch with an equivilant knurled shaft. I have some of the Futurlec switches, but the shafts are very long and not so condusive to cutting down. Any insight is greatly appreciated.

You can use this rotary switch from Mouser. It's got a shorter 18 MM shaft. It is not knurled but does it really matter?
105-SR2611F-18-18NS Alpha (Taiwan) 1 POLE 8 POS D SHAFT
$3.17 each !!
The funny thing is, like an idiot, I just ordered the 38 MM shaft, too long, by accident I can just cut it down though
Hope this helps !

The LED's in the project are 2 MA low current type. If you have trouble finding them, here are some Mouser part numbers for the LED's you will need. I have supplied three colors. I am using all three colors !!
Red for the sequence patterns, Yellow for the Gate bus and green for all other indications .........
Mouser Part No. Manufacturer Part Description
638-HLMP4700 HLMP4700 Everlight T1-3/4 (5mm) T-1 3/4 LOW CURR RED
638-HLMP4719 HLMP4719 Everlight T1-3/4 (5mm) T-1 3/4 LOW CURR YEL
638-HLMP4740 HLMP4740 Everlight T1-3/4 (5mm) T-1 3/4 LOW CURR GRN

I was originally planning on making my Klee the center piece of a Frac format controller that I'm making, but the more I lay out different panel concepts, the more I'm starting to think its going to have to be a self-contained item. I'm finding the Frac format too limiting.
My original design was to arrange the pattern controls radially, ala the Buchla Arbitrary Function Generator . But the 5.25" height was a real bummer, man...
So I tried a linear arrangement, but the closest I could get the control columns was .75" center to center, which resulted in the pattern controls taking up a space almost 12" long. That doesn't include the other controls. In my opinion thats too much real estate in my cabinet. So I'm thinking I might continue to explore the radial pattern in a stand-alone, nonstandard panel size. Just let it be what it needs to be instead of trying to cram into such a restrictive format.
tune in here to see further developments along these lines.
Has anyone else taken a stab at this?

i think i will stay with my origin front panel but for a stand alone 19'' 3U case. "linear" concept. i am quite happy with 20mm spacing between the 16mm alpha pots using soft touch knobs... _________________

3U is enough? I was wondering since I will be building to 19". I haven't laid out a panel yet. Hell, I have way too many boards backlogged to build. _________________ Garret: It's so retro.

3U would be enough. i checked it considering 16mm alphas and common switches. tight but enough if one is used to eurorack, which is always a little bit cramped. _________________

I'm seriously looking at 45mm sliders, which I think will mean 4U minimum. I'll be laying something out soon, and looking for feedback. _________________ What makes a space ours, is what we put there, and what we do there. |

I like the knurled shafts because of my re'an knob preference. They are probably available in 'D' shaft though, and I'm sure i can get a rotary in that. Gonna check the new mouser catalog, it just arrived today!!!

Hi everyone,
Just stumbled on this thread and I'd be interested by bying a set of Klee boards.
Do I arrive too late or is there still a way to get some? If so what are the costs?
Thanks in Advance
