Are we allowed to talk about hard to resist urges that haven't resulted in actual purchases yet? I say a second hand Poly Evolver at a local music store going for something like a bit less than 1200 Euro. I forced my hands down my pockets and my feet out the door...

Maybe, since we are having a crisis, it would be a good idea to have the craving stories here Rolling Eyes

With the US and Worlds economic woes as they are,and with my economic woes as they are.;I am craving the vintage gear I had to sell to pay for the newer gear I am in debt for to just keep up with my gear addiction.
Not to mention the price of keeping up with regular tech lust like cable tv, internet and telephone( land and mobile) fees )

I managed to get a grant proposal through for enough to buy a laptop, an 8 input/output audio IO box, and a glyph drive, to keep doing my MIDI guitar stream analysis work. May be able to double the amount in the spring and gets some amplifiers, speakers, and input devices.

Trying to decide on a Macbook Pro versus an XP laptop if I can still get one. My wife took over my first MacBook Pro after I became disappointed in its latency for real-time performance work. Probably the device driver for my Edirol IO box. I was hoping that Firewire instead of USB 2.0 would help, but I don't know. My Alienware XP machine is good for latency (bad for fan noise), but its video card is dying for the second time, so I am afraid that its retirement is approaching. Decisions, decisions . . .

As a justification for my earlier rambling about cravings, I've gone ahead and bought that Poly Evolver! It's been sitting on a shelf at the store at an incredible price (my estimation) for two weeks now, and I could no longer resist. Sure it's second hand, and when I got it home the knobs responded a bit oddly when I tweaked them, but an OS update seems to have taken care of those quirks. And it sounds lovely! Very Happy An early christmas present for myself.

Part of my thoughts go to the person who sold it - one scenario that pops into my ever guilt-ridden brain is a tearful parting due to lack of money in these difficult times. I promise I'll take good care of it!

Yep! I've had the the mono desktop version for a while, so I already knew that I love the sound. And now there's loads of knobs (first synth I have with complete access like this!) and four times the joy. And the polyphony works pretty well too - plus I can even hook up the mono for fifth voice!

Not really a tangible thing, but I'll chuck it in here anyways: I've gone and bought an upgrade to Logic Studio. Guess I know what I'll be doing over Christmas! Cool

I don't have GAS (Gear Acquisition Syndrom), I have FART (Frikkin Awful Retrofit Tendency). Remember how I cut a hole in my guitar for a handle and sticky-taped a motion sensor on it? Well, now I've got tape on the frets, resistors in the tuning pins, and wire running down the neck! It looks like a Franken guitar! GAS or FART, either way you're full of it!

I think many here are affected by GAS and a few by FART but anyway the NanoKontrol is way cool. Download the editor from the Korg website if you have not already done so.

Do you get parameter feedback anywhere on the nanokontrol, or does it behave like the corresponding parts of a microkontrol? It sure looks small and nice, but I don't know if I could live without the feedback...

Stefan, jag har inte hunnit finna ut sådana detaljer, or to put it in the Lingua Franca, I haven't had time to check the finer details, I've just about managed to set it up as a B4 controller. Y'see I'm still learning Logic Pro anyways.
