You could try putting a switch across the charge capacitor, like a JFET maybe... Not sure how well that would work. I think the Korg MonoPoly LFO's reset was done that way.

this is a very simple LFO. i wouldn't know where to insert the sync signal. in fact i would have to do some research on this matter (which oscillator core is syncable and how?)...

MG2 (the arpeggiator LFO) on the Mono/Poly uses an NPN transistor to discharge the cap. This is done when pressing a key that restarts the arpeggiator clock.

However, the LFO core is a triangle oscillator, and I expected such a discharge to reset the LFO to either 0 or 180 degrees of its period, whichever is closest (see my previous post in this thread). But it seems to reset to 0 degrees every time, just as it should be done in this application. Can anybody explain why? Smile

The M/P MG2 schematics are attached.

i received enough advance-orders for a 2nd run according to our Recommendations for PCB offers on electro-music. again thank you all for your interest, i am truly overwhelmed.

I'LL TAKE ORDERS UNTIL Fri 7 MAR 08 13:00 UTC

i'll send the files to the manufacturer then. it will take two more weeks to the PCBs arrival and then i will have to populate and test one. if the PCBs are fine i will PM you concerning payment (paypal preferred). if not, i will have some realy nice and fancy beermats Wink ) anticipated date of delivery is last week of march.
the new documentation will hopefully be done this week.

everyone who contacted me so far (using PM, email or post in the thread) is put on the list. i just wanted to let you know, that i have not had the time to PM everyone who placed an order yet.

i will confirm your orders the next days.

If you could bung me down for a couple of these as well, Matthias, that would be great.

Many thanks.

Has anyone modded their PS3100 clone so that:

- Each filter stage has its own audio output?
- All filter stages can be controlled by one CV?

I surely will, when it arrives. Smile

All good mods like these would be interesting to hear about.

Looking at the schematic, the three individual outputs are easy to do: just add a 1K resistor to each filter opamp's output (i.e. where the left side of the 10K resistor connects on the schematic).

This would be a nice mod since it would allow panning each filter section in a different part of the stereo field.

I think that for the summed CV input, you should be able to just add another 270K resistor to the base of each NPN transistor (Q1, Q3 and Q5) and connect the other ends of the resistors to an (attenuated) input jack. I think that this is how the MOTM 410 does it.

if you take a look at the building docs you will see that i just used and recommended switching jack sockets (kind of multiple). actually each filter stage has it's own cv in. you can achieve different options by different wiring...

all credits go to Scott Stites, the master of switching jack sockets!

everyone who placed an advance order should have received a PM, now. check your PM inbox. i just wanted to let you know that i received your order and put you on the list. you don't have to reply these PMs unless the info is not correct.

Matthias,

Either on the 6th or 7th tried PM a request for 3 units. Do not know if it went through or not.

So I'd like to reserve 3 if they have not already done so.

Thanks much.

I was wondering if anyone has tried to build this circuit with different frequency ranges, like a small filter bank/graphic equalizer? Would this be a worthwhile pursuit?

What do you think Matthias? Is this a pointless idea?

I guess it would be a matter of changing capacitor values on each stage, and then perhaps taping the individual outputs. But I'm not sure how one would go about calculating (roughly) the values of each cap/stage in order to produce various frequency bands/ranges.

i don't think it's worth it (just my two pence). they already provide variable center frequency. the three filters are voltage controlled using vactrols. that's the clue and it would be a very expensive solution for a filter bank.
for a smaller fixed filter bank i'd used a simpler circuit. you may want to take a look at analog devices interactive filter designer tool:
http://www.analog.com/Analog_Root/static/techSupport/designTools/interactiveTools/filter/filter.html

A graphic eq doesn't make much sense, as the resonator is more similar to a parametric eq. But it would be very interesting to add some adjustable parameters like Q and boost/cut to the circuit - and turn it into a voltage controlled parametric eq. I'll definitely look into these possibilities.

Regarding frequency ranges, try with different capacitor values. I can't find the formulas for this particular BPF configuration, but... if somebody has them or calculates them, please shout. Smile
