Jurgen, I don't know if you intend to include a description of "how the various sub modules are connected up" on the SOSTF page on your site - it would be very helpful if you have the time. Being a simple accountant ( Laughing ) I'm struggling on this one!

Or should I not worry because they are connected on the board(s) anyway? Have you given an estimated price for the boards yet - as we are not going to Argentina next year!

SOST Flanger is all on one (very densely populated) PCB.
Price will be 27 Euros + shipping, as usual.

I love the "pedal steel guitar effect on the drums! Is that done on the flanger or the drum box?

I'd love to hear a sample of electric guitar processed through the SOST, if you don't have one I could send you a sample to process.

nice Demo , thanks.

Ok, tracking isn't overly good. I adjusted the trimmer roughly, and made these demos:
http://www.jhaible.de/sonofstormtide/sost_karplus_1.mp3
http://www.jhaible.de/sonofstormtide/sost_karplus_2.mp3
http://www.jhaible.de/sonofstormtide/sost_and_wavefolder.mp3

The 3rd one is a combination of my wavefolder and the SoST Flanger in a feedback loop, self-oscillating.

Thanks, Jürgen.
Seems that tracking with higher frequencies is a bit difficult.
But anyway, deeper frequencies are much more interesting. Smile
I sent a mail - I'm in for 2 boards.

The drumbox output is unchanged from beginning to end - it's all from the Flanger. (The first few seconds are dry, for comparison)

When you have built your SOST, run the guitar thru it and then make samples. Smile Smile Smile

Yes, frankly: The tracking isn't good. Probably not worth putting a tempco resistor in here.

I'm taking orders for the "Son of Storm Tide" Flanger PCBs now.

(See http://www.jhaible.de/sonofstormtide/sonofstormtide.html for details about the project.)

(Email please - no PM)

Pricing is EUR 27.00 per board

plus a single EUR 6.00 shipping flat charge for worldwide shipping,

regardless how many boards you are ordering and where you live.

It does *not* include any customs fees or tax that you may (or may not) have

to pay in your county.

What you get is a double-sided printed circuit board with component overlay,

approx. size 160mm x 100mmm.

You have to buy the electronic components for this, and build the device,

yourself. (Check the above website regularly for updates and building hints,

bill of matrials etc.)

I reserve the right to cancel orders if a certain number of total orders isn't reached.

But I will not take any money before I actually have the manufactured boards in my hands!

If you want to place a pre-order, please send me an email to the following

adress:

jhaible@debitel.net

and use the FOLLOWING FORM (fill in your data instead of [],

for instance: "2 Boards" instead of "[quantity] Boards")

===== Start of Email Order Form ===============

Email Subject line: SOST Flanger order: [quantity] boards

Email text:

I'm ordering [quantity] pieces of the SOST Flanger PCB

for EUR 27.00 per board + EUR 6.00 single shipping flat charge for any

number of boards.

I'm aware that I may have to pay additional amounts of customs and tax in my

country.

I'm also aware that I'm only buying blank PCBs that may help me building an

electonic module - I'm *not* buying a diy kit, not a "project" - just pieces

of FR4 with copper traces.

I know how to build electronic circuits and I am trained in electrical safety matters.

The seller of these PCBs will not be held responsible for any damage that results

from these PCBs, directly or indirectly.

My shipping adress is

[Your Name]

[Your street, number, city, ZIP code, in exactly the form

that is generally used in your country]

[your country]

My paypal adress is [your paypal adress].

I===== End of Email Order Form =========

Looking forward to hear fom you Smile

JH.

In 1972 an album called Morris On was released, 2 years later the sequel was called Son of Morris On. Then in 2002 we had Grandson of Morris On and in 2004 Great Grandson of Morris On - get the picture? Very Happy

Component overlay is online, and some minor errors in the schematics corrected.

http://www.jhaible.de/sonofstormtide/sonofstormtide.html

Still working on a Bill of Materials, but you can get an idea from the component overlay.

Finished the Bill of Materials for the Son of Storm Tide Flanger project:
http://www.jhaible.de/sonofstormtide/sost_bom.pdf

Yes, it's a lot of material - and it's not a beginner's project ...

I've placed the PCB order at the factory now, but there will be enough for those who haven't pre-ordered yet.
I hope I can ship these PCBs in 3 .. 4 weeks.

There is 2x BC550B transistors listed in the BOM. IFAIK they are NPN, not PNP.
Could it be BC560C (PNP) as in other projects?
On the component overlay pdf there are 2x BC560B

You're right - I've just corrected it. BC560 for the general purpose pnp transistors, as usual in my projects.

BC560C or BC560B will both be ok. Just stay away from BC560A.

550 is npn of course.

I'm super glad that you're releasing an updated version of your Storm Tide flanger. If I'm going to have only one flanger in my setup, this is the one to have!

If you grab a flange for R2R flanging and let it loose again, the motor speed overshoots and you gat the speed bouncing thru the zero-delay point several times - or some such I've been told.

If you turn up the bounce potentiometer, a short and quick turn of the manual pot will cause flanging movement for some time - all automatically.
Might be nice for operating with a pedal instead the manual konb, too ...

LFO:

Ramp = Triangle wave
Slew = Slew'ed square wave (expo shaped slopes, amplitude getting smaller with increasing rate)
S&H = Stepped random voltage with overshoot spikes.
