I only found out what this was last week. Gmail is google's response to free browser based mail that other big search engines offer. You can only get a gmail address if a current user gives you one of their "invite points" which are acquired some way or another. This is to prevent bots from overtaking mail addresses. I don't know much else, but apparently you can get large amounts of storage space via gmail (such as a gig).

edit: oh yeah, its nice of you to offer this to e-m.com members loki. I've got my email needs covered, but thanks a lot for the offer.

Its funny they advertise as Gmail, but you only get 1000MB of storage. A gig is 1024MB. They couldn't have just slipped in another 24, could they? Wink

Big brother doesn't have to do too much these days. Google not only knows what your are interested in and where you go on the web, but with your email, they know everyone you communicate with. Hell, they even have links on electro-music.com Shocked

Well,

seeing as I am currently in flux both in online as offline habitat, I got myself a gmail-account.

This is a seriously well thought-out application, it compares favorably to Eudora for ease of use and speed.

The big brother aspect is a bit surreal, then again, if Echelon is reading everything I write, Google can as well Wink

Just remind me to use PGP when I'm planning my next attack on your eardrums.
