I'm surprise for how is not possible to select a particular number of patch on G2 Keyboard, like in every common synth, by the key buttons, like pressing 1-2-8 to recall patch number 128.It seems the only way to change and access to patches is the rotary dial but it allows to proceeding only forward o reverse in steps by one patch at time.Or alternative mode is to collect a bank of patch sequentially in order due to be used, i:.e playing in live situations. But no way for jumpig through the banks and from a patch to another no subsequentially.Could it be possible in any furthers OS updates?

Since there is no numeric keypad on the G2's front panel, how would this work?

I suppose Clavia could find a way to use the variation buttons, in octal mode (Like the old Roland preset numbering system). Don't know if that's really any easier than scrolling through them.

I just set up my performances in a bank, in the order I will use them.
Also there aren't too many (maybe about 30) so it's not too hard to find them. In a live situation, it's good not to have too many patches to choose from anyway, but to have worked out ahead of time what patches you will use.

You could also use an external midi controller to send program changes.

Well, there are eight button for variations and buttons A-B-C-D-E-1-2-3 in Parameter Pages which chained to the others could make possible set patches and banks also in octal mode like suggested by egw.

External midi controller could be a solution but if you use G2 in live situations where it is alone and not in midi chain it will be useful access to a specific number of patch and not only sequentially by step of one at time .

The way I would think do this (umm..excuse it if its not practical) would be to write an app. (or use max or reaktor or possibly a smaller app.) that takes ascii numbers from the (computer keyboard) keys, holds them in memory, and sends out a corresponding midi signal (i.e. pressing 0 1 2 would send out midi control value 12 for bank select or whatever).

edit: i misread your post, you were referring to the numerical keys on the G2 (for variations). the most practical solution is to make banks...I have used a bank per set, but if you use a lot of patches in one song you could make one bank per song.
