Voice distorter |
|
|
Was actually listening to a daft punk song today, (the popular one, "Work it harder, do it faster, etc.") and I noticed that the voice sounds awesome. I don't know if it's a synthesized voice or a voice distortion, but whatever sort of software they used for it, I wouldn't mind messing around with it : ) Can someone point me in the right direction?
-Thanks for your time,

I'd say it was done with a vocoder. As to techniques to getting a vocoder to sound like that, I have no clue.
There is a thread here that lists some freeware vocoder programs.

Vocoders are great and many pop tunes now use these devices, mostly in their most simple manner. Another neat thing to process the voice it the ring modulator, but his usually mangles things beyond recognition. I'm not familiar with the particular song you mentioned, but my guess is they used a vocoder of some sort.
There are ways to use it where you sing into a microphone and the sound comes out only when you play a key on the keyboard. You can play harmonies. You can sing any pitch at all and the pitch that comes out is what was on press on the keyboard. This is great for someone like me that can't sing too well but likes to express themselves vocally. _________________ --Howard

I remember hearing that song a few years back. If I recall correctly, it sounded like a synthesized voice (with some speech-synthesis software I guess) with a vocoder processing to give it pitch. It sounds pretty neat and extremely robotic. |

The great thing about a decent vocoder is that you can so many sick things with it. Using such a nice device for vocals seems like a waste _________________ A Charity Pantomime in aid of Paranoid Schizophrenics descended into chaos yesterday when someone shouted, "He's behind you!"

The sound they have produced on several daftpunk records
could be done with a vocoder, but also with a "voice harmonizer"
which sets the voice to a certain note,
ive used "RBC Voice Tweaker" to produce such things,
its quite interesting =X
maybe we should ask them? =D |
