so far its sounding a bit like this...
about to finish yet another panel (with 9 different modules in it) should have the whole box done in a couple weeks.

Thanks for the comments Rich,
yeah likely the single 9V is discharging overtime.. Soon the whole thing will be running on DC 9V courtesy the wonderful effect pedal commercial supply known as '1SPOT'

Idea BTW, battery starvation is a technique that people have been using to improve the effectiveness of their crackle boxes. Usually, they just put a pot in series with the 9V battery. Crackle boxes actually sound better on a weak battery. Adjusting the series connected pot allows one to get it just right, as well as providing another source of modulation.

There is no reason this won't work on Lunettas as well. Even if you have a decent power supply. Idea

Indeed! the 1st experiments i ever did with 40106 osc, involved a starve pot. Awesome results. Maybe a good idea to make a lunetta network in a way that individual modules were 'starvable'? via patch options? or maybe it makes sense mostly for the Oscillators..

A satisfying Lunetta could be built using only 40106's , R/2R DAC's and Mickey Mouse Logic LED's.

I'm dead serious here, as far as I'm concerned all these CMOS gates are obsolete. The Lunetta I'm building now will be completely gateless.

How I stumbled upon this idea can be read in my Tuesday March 30 post here: http://electro-music.com/forum/topic-38634.html .

Well, maybe it is. I'd like to hear your opinion on "LED Gating", it has changed my Lunetta concept overnight. I really like it a lot. And building it is no challenge at all. Much more easy than having to solder and power multiple gate IC's.

I do plan on using my 4021 and 4051's, but this evening soldered 8 LED's on my new love, and as a proof of concept restricted myself to using just three oscillators, two LED's and a single mono output. I had shifting layered riffs of Bleep, Grind and Space churning out in no time.

Disclaimer: this idea involves a large amount of oscillator output multiples on a "Circuitboard Only" Lunetta, and may not be practical on frontpaneled or modular Lunetta's.

Hey if you're getting cool results it's fair game. I quickly tried connecting an LED to some 4040 outputs and it blinked interestingly, but my little amp is in surgery right now so couldn't hear anything.

Between the starve pots and LEDs, I can see having an add-on board on mine for trying this kind of stuff with passives and etceteras.

Here's some video explaining what's in my Lunetta. I'm going to try to do some tutorial style videos in the near future.

Awsome Lunetta droffset, and what a clear explanation of it's components. I had, clumsily stumbling over my crummy Inglish, shot a video of mine in a likewise manner, but with a way more modest setup. time to post.
These video's of mine being recorded in a whimp, the DIP switch of the DAC I hadn't properly explaned. If open, each pot is single, with wiper in and right lug out. With the DIP switch on, the right lug is connected to the wiper of the pot's right neighbour. With pots in series a voltage can de had at any output, and selection of a different output changes the location of the most and least significant bits.
The adjustable DAC was a work in progress, it's not a true R/2R DAC yet. It still needs 2R resistors at the'wipers, and a DIP switch to connect the left lugs and a 2R to ground. But it's fun as it is already.

A thing I'm pleased with to have are the patchable pots at the top right of the board. I might for instance send the wiper to the 40106 VCO power in, have two different signals at the left and right lug, and fade between them.

RF, thanks!

Electri-fire, very nice, I like the patchable pots and the DIP switch especially. Your English is just fine.

I'm not really getting the most out of my DACs, maybe inserting something like that right before the opamp will help.

At your 40106 VCO I noticed you have two timing capacitors, but I couldn't tell if you have timing resistors as well. As I have (somewhat) demonstrated, having pots at your 40106 VCO can get varying but interesting results. I use two oscillators, one left, one right. Though powered by a single control voltage, by tweaking of the left and right oscillators a stereo effect can be had. It can be different pitch, pulsewidth, different (related) rhythms, even different notes. What you get isn't always very predictable, but a fun option to have anyway.
I might even try four pots at mine to see if I get more layers of sound that way. I'll post a little demo later if worthwhile.

Setting up 4 oscillators at the 40106 VCO
I usually have the CV detpth adjustable with a pot, now it's just straight in as all my pots were in use.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UwCglD2Jykw (edit: oops, this wasn't the "embed" link, and now I can't find that anymore. Well, best see the setup first)

Some knobs tweaked with this setup:

Good vids droffset and electri-fire. I like the openness of your systems. You both seem to use the same patch chord idea. Very Happy Very Happy
