2013 Build Pictures Subject description: Show us what you built!
I finished my 2nd prototype of a Thomas Henry 555-VCO tonight (had to do a few corrections using new unfamiliar solder, so the PCB looks a little bit worn out):

Beautiful, Mattias.
It doesn't look that bad at all. _________________ Garret: It's so retro.

Nice! So the PCB won't accept DIP transistor pairs? Only hand-matched and metal can?
it is made for hand-matched 2N3906. fortunately ian fritz shared a nice and simple method/circuit with us to do this job... _________________

nice one matthias
I am all over the shop lately with builds but i actually managed to complete this one in the last week.
A boogdish voltage to rhythm convertor
quite fun it is too !

here's my latest finished project, which started out with
Tim Escobedo's PWM circuit and as usual I added some more things to it.
I will probably post some more details later in another thread.
but here are the pics

Meant to post this at the end of last year, but... well... things got a bit hectic! I know it looks rough, but as I'm starting out I wanted a usable modular more than I wanted to spend ages on panels, building a proper case etc. Also no particularly esoteric modules just yet, figured it'd be best to get all the basics going first
It's mounted in a flatmate's old CD shelving unit (almost Euro size already), using panels made from a nasty kind of plastic I found loads of offcuts of next to a bin outside a furniture shop. I'll break the bank another day.
Modules are:
1 x Basic 4011 clock for the sequencer
1 x Dual Channel 4017 CV/Gate/Trigger Sequencer, with built in glide and crossfade between the two CV channels
3 x Thomas Henry VCA
4 x Ray's Cool New LFO (skipped the sine output for now)
1 x Dual Slew (just left over from prototyping the sequencer)
1 x MFOS Soundlab MiniSynth Plus VCF
1 x Transistor Noise
1 x Dual AR Gen
...aaaaaand a crappy 555 osc for a testing sound source. A proper osc is pretty high up the priority list!
Mostly built on stripboard as well, aside from a Ray Wilson bipolar power supply.
Actually, there's another cool project from 2012 I didn't get to post yet, but I need to finish the video first! Should be doing plenty this year too though _________________ Circuit Bent Sonic Absurdity:

I'm working on a small machine based on some of my favorite lunetta chips. He's called V'Ger and is a portable racket maker as opposed to it's bigger patchable brother.
The chips:
1 x 40106 (made 4 oscillators in this set up)
1 x 4512 8 input data selector
1 x 4040 Divider
1 x 4046 built as a pitch tracker based on Nic Collins' design)
Three slow oscillators are the ABC controllers of the 4512. The C controler also has a switch to choose between the slow clock or the output of pin 2 of the pitch tracker.
Another clock with a HI/Lo switch goes to the 4040 to set the octaves that the 4512 will "play".
The 4046 has a Hi/Lo cap switch as well to offer some unique sounds.
I am still thinking about my enclosure; I have a few tins around here so I'll see where that takes me. Here's a crappy video of the device :

basic 40106 clock (thanks to diablojoy for pointing out the one-shot solution to make it a trigger clock without double triggering like I was when I tried to use a comparator), plus a couple stages of YuSynth clock divider, plus the "super simple S&H" circuit from kickstarter a while back....
Originally was going to be VC Noise + the S&H but I couldn't get it to fit into 1U so that went back onto a different spot on my backlog.
playing around with the S&H and the clock dividers:

I moved house a few months ago and have yet to set up my screen printing gear. However, I wanted to convert a Red Llama distortion clone into module form for convenience so decided to hand-paint the thing. My inner-teenager came to the fore, bringing with it all those years of drawing Tolkien and D & D pictures back in the early 1980s. Silly, but adds some color to the black metal facade.

Looks great. Have been thinking of building a version of the Craig Anderton Tube Sound Fuzz (which the Red Llama is apparent based on) for my system and your sound clips have convinced me.
