Engine Question Regarding Expansion Board... |
 |
|
Hey guys! Just got my Engine yesterday and the expanion board as well from Sweetwater but it seems the board wasn't made for the engine. Its harness doesn't fit any recepticle that I see. I think it's for the keyboard version only. Any one got any suggestions or a correct part number? The expansion board says 'NORD MODULAR/EXP VERSION 1.0'
Also - with all the talk of G2's hanging up and having a 'hum' issue - here's what mine says -
Manufacture Date: May 18, 2004
Serial: ME10226
Engine Power Version: 0.1
(Big chip on left board): NM2E Main 1.04
I asked both Clavia and Armadillo about the power supply hum issue (and wondered if mine was one of the affected units) and they both said they hadn't heard of the problem (as of July 14). What should I do? |

Sounds like Sweetwater screwed up - you've got the expander for the original Nord Modular.
I purchased my G2 from Sweetwater and they have not been able to get the expansion board for me - the part number is G2EXB - nor the soft case. Sounds like your "sales engineer" screwed up the order. |

thanks for the info I have the correct board on order now. As for the 'hum' - Clavia says I have a recent version of the Engine and not to worry. Did anyone ever find a hardware board version 1.2? On the front panel of my Engine under the Power LED it says '1.2'... |

Hmm - did you order that from Sweetwater - and if so, do they have them in stock? I've been kinda waiting for one from them for over two weeks.. don't need it yet because I'm still learning my way around, but would like to get it over with |

Hi there, congrats with your engine. I am one of the guilty ones on the hum rumour, but as I have tried to point out several times before, this problem does not appear to ever have caused hum in engines that were actually sold. Several Dutch shops told me a while ago that there were delivery delays because of some hum problem, but these engines never made it to customers. Customers just had to wait a little longer for their order. I was one of the waiting customers at the moment, but in retrospect I received my engine only days later then expected.
Enjoy, it is a brilliant machine. |

Hello Mosc and thank you
Jamos: When I talked to Jason at Armadillo he said he only had 2 left in stock and to tell Sweetwater to order one for me ASAP as he didn't expect to have them around very long. (Which SW did so I now have 1 of the available 2 coming soon - yay!)
Fozzie: Thanks for clearing that up for me! I was worried there for a moment.
All: I'm an experienced 'noiseician' (similar to Mike Patton but with more toys - I mean tools) who owned a Micro previously for generating the most insane and complex noise patterns known to man lol. I have an extensive live setup including Kaoss KP2's, 2 prototype (out of 100 ever made) Dimension Beam MIDI controllers, Boss VF-1 and SE-50, Roland SP808ex sampler, Antares Vocal Producer, MOTU MTP-A/V's, an ART Pro Channel, Roland FC-200 footcontroller, G4 laptops with software galore and now ------------------ a Nord Engine G2X! This machine is going to destroy EVERYTHING It's insane and the first time I listened to it and heard the demo and what this thing can do over my old Micro - I was TOTALLY BLOWN AWAY. I can't wait to break it in...
I am VERY grateful for this forum. Hopefully the Clavia community will start making the same HUGE archive of patches constructed by people who are much more intelligent than I when it comes to sound synthesis. I think the last time I downloaded the entire updated archive for my Micro Modular it was something like 36,000 patches! The only place with much to offer in regards to the G2 that I have found so far is:
http://roland.code404.com/pipermail/nord-modular/
Again - thanks guys |
