They both screw up... alot... specially if you're using Cubase (grumble)
Just choose the platform that feels nice to you. To me OSX seems more straight forward for novices, and WinXP gives a little more control under-the-hood for advanced users. Not that OSX isn't for advanced users, either. But honestly, I couldn't see a novice running a PC without a few bumps in the road.
BTW, I use, and prefer PCs. _________________ www.avanvranken.com |

Well, listen carlo, I first thought I would say that XP is like driving a car while sitting in the trunk, but then I decided not to. But.. if it comes to the "control under the hood" business OS X has it all and then some. _________________ A Charity Pantomime in aid of Paranoid Schizophrenics descended into chaos yesterday when someone shouted, "He's behind you!"

I couldn't agree more, my dear, and parodying myself I could add:

Here's one I got from a mate who's neutral in the Apple vs Windows debate, if not totally sane - he swears by OS2.
"The idea that Bill Gates has appeared like a knight in shining armour
to lead all customers out of a mire of technological chaos neatly
ignores the fact that it was he who, by peddling second-rate
technology, led them into it in the first place."

Well--- I apreciate the fact that some of you posted interesting points of view. Seeing that the subject has totally flipped to another topic, it is not of my use to continue on following the threads. I came to a conclution; MAC or PC are both good or bad depending on the software/hardware you use. I heard a lot of thoughts regarding how MAC was better at handling graphics, and I thought well; maybe one of them is better on music.
Appreciate all exposed-useful comments, and understand all out of theme replys.

Oh, and I forgot to extemporize on one of Howard's earlier posts; This forum has both Mac and Windows users who are highly qualified and are generalyy EXTREMELY helpful towards us knowlessmen.
You know who you are, now stand up and take your praise!

From what I know of graphics design, the Apple IIe (?) was the first personal computer around with a fairly easy to use graphics program. Since apple had graphic design software first, graphic designers went with apples, stayed with apples, and the rest is history. I think a pc and a mac are pretty even when it comes to graphical capability, it just depends on the gui people are comfortable with (no new ideas here ) |

It is hard to say why Apple got into graphic design, but I guess this really happened when Apple issued the Laserwriter. From the start Apple had managed to create a very sensible computing enviroment and I guess this is why so many developers started out making great software even though the first macs were pretty crude. What the mac was back then is difficult to describe well. Imagine a complete computing enviroment with great support for external drives.. real drives.. scsi.. printers etc etc. Apple handled developers pretty well and you could get extremely good documentation of the OS. The Apple OS was in many ways a rewrite of ideas from the high end stuff. Apple designed the OS with an extensive use of "toolbxing". The OS provided tools and methods and you could use what was already in the OS instead of writing your own solutions to common "problems". This is probably also the reason why audio software on the mac was easy to write too. They kept this approach with OS X too and the use of PDF for screen graphics and the audio/midi core stuff are examples of this kind of programming philosophy. _________________ A Charity Pantomime in aid of Paranoid Schizophrenics descended into chaos yesterday when someone shouted, "He's behind you!"

hope not to stoke the fire...
I've used PCs for years.
I just bought a G5. It's Lovely.
That's all I can say. I didn't find the OS too hard to learn as long as you Google what you can't figure out. |

Not a ton, but I did install Augustus Loop so I had to get in to the Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/Components folder...
I have spent lots of time with PCs and programming though, so even if things are in foreign places I can usually figure it out |
