Yes, i use standard anodized blind panels for euroracks I got a whole buch of them at a store that was cleaning out their 19" racks.

The minimalist approach might look nice, but it is a hell to remember witch jack is what, so i have been experimenting with press and peel techniques which works quite nicely if you apply enough heat.

Some day I will get around designing front panels for my modules Wink

About the dimensions, it is Eurorack, but if I start again I will go for a 4U front panel. What do you think about? In any case is good for learn how to save space without compromise ergonomics.

Yes, euro is nice, but when you use 1/4" jacks like I do spacing is very tight, so a bit more room wouldn't be such a bad thing.

To keep in the spirit of the topic, most of this was built in 2008 I should really update that photo, the thing has already doubled in size ( of which about a full rack of MFOS sequencer )

Right, 2008 isn't over, I have 20 in the backlog, so what did I do yesterday and today? Right, I built a Baby 10... What can I say, the klee needed something to go with it. Now I need to use the other 4017 for a clock divider... Very Happy

Oh come on guys, I must have the most simple / boring panels of this whole topic. ( Simple is good Wink )

I wish I could build something like neandrewthal's or fonik's panels.

that's exactly what i do (no, not exactly, i use ken stones VC divider)! it's real fun to control the klee with a baby10 and a clock divider. good choice, IMHO.

Your Baby 10 is a bit more grown up than mine! I used your version of the schematic though, but without the extra set of CV and the Ken Stone PCB. I just did up a stripboard, and it wasn't too much work to debug. The panel is the most work on a Baby 10 anyway.

And yes, your videos are exactly how I wanted to do this, so I'm following you on that..! It was your video for the Klee that made me want to build a baby10 and a clock divider... Maybe I'll have the clock divider before NYE... I'll use Yve's schematic but only one chip's worth.

Thanks for the inspiration! But my panel graphics are different. Wink

Times up guys Smile Time to post up if you haven't yet.

Here's my last work of the year: Panel layouts for my next cabinet. Don't worry about the blank spaces, I've got plenty of backlog to fill them, just haven't decided yet exactly how much of it I'm gonna try to cram on those last panels Wink

Also, one last jam to celebrate my first year in DIY and kick off number 2!

Hmm, it appears I don't have any space left for the pic, I deleted a bunch of stuff, but I'll have to wait until it clears.

This year I have started the move from digital and software to analog and hardware (modular) and as such decided to go the DIY path.
I have started DIY with Blacet kits and then went completely DIY (not count MIDI DIY with MIDIBox stuff).

Also, I am building my panels using painted aluminum panels where use FPE to design the simple panel, print it on paper, place the paper on the painted panel and drill the holes. Later I will use a label printer to label the controls.
Not the best result, but at least I am reducing cost Smile

This year I have done:
1 x J. Haible Interpolating scanner.
2 x CGS Utility LFO
2 x CGS DC mixer
1 x CGS Gated Comparator
1 x fonik PS3100 resonators
1 x J. Fromel Dim-C
1 x Tellun TLN-156 Neural Agonizer
2 x CGS Harry Bissel Morph Lag
1 x CGS Sub Osc
1 x Blacet Filthy Filter
1 x CGS Synthacon Filter
1 x CGS Master Divider
1 x Blacet Quad VCA
2 x MFOS Dual VCA
2 x MFOS Dual Attack/Release
3 x complete CGS VCO
1 x simple CGS VCO
2 x dual CGS VCO (two boards controlled from a single interface)
1 x Blacet Miniwave
1 x CGS Wave Multiplier
1 x TH mankato Filter
1 x fonik attenuvertor mixer
2 x MFOS ADSR
1 x J. Haible String Ensemble
2 x CGS Cynare
1 x CGS Dual Drum
1 x J. Haible Schulte Phaser
1 x CGS Master Divider
1 x MFOS Sample & Hold
1 x CGS Chime Sim
1 x AD3208 analog bbd delay
1 x pt-80 delay
1 x CGS Digital noise

1 x MIDIBox 8 channels Midi2CV

I have built 7-8 Blacet modules that I sold to make room for more "cheaper" modules.

Shocked Shocked Shocked Whomper wins 2008!!

I managed to throw in one final 2008 module. The Paia vocoder kit I got for christmas. It was finished on Dec 26th by noon. Still need to make a real panel for it (who am I kidding? I still need to make real panels for all my modules), do the clarification mod, and figure out a way to stuff it in my second cabinet.

Thanks for the thumbs up... I wish I was wealth/retired ... Smile
I have a day job in the software biz and a family that demands attention Surprised

At first I was after a DSI Prophet '08, but then I saw it has DCOs and not VCOs, so I looked for an alternative Cool

The way I had accomplished all those modules this year is working at nights and not investing the time (yet) to learn them full, just build/build/build (did not want to take a break from music making for too long)

Once I complete the missing modules (Yusynth filter bank and ring mod, J. Haible Dim-D, one more analog delay and some SDS-3 boards), I will probably reduce energy on the DIY phase and start using what I built.

Most of my efforts in '08 went into new circuit development. I have a box full of completed circuits ready for panels. Here are two panels I did manage to get completed. These are 5.25 x 19 inch rack panels with water-slide decals for labeling.

Top Panel:

2 ea SawTri VCOs. These have Saw cores with dial-a-tempco compensation and built-in SNIC-based Saw-Tri morphers
http://home.comcast.net/~ijfritz/sy_cir9.htm
http://home.comcast.net/~ijfritz/sy_cir10.htm

2 ea 5Pulser waveshapers. Highly synergistic with the TriSaw VCOs
http://home.comcast.net/~ijfritz/sy_cir8.htm
http://bridechamber.com/bridechamber.com/F%205Pulser.html

1 ea 4-in mixer

2 ea Analog XOR circuits
http://electro-music.com/forum/viewtopic.php?highlight=analog+xor&t=21851

Bottom Panel:

1 ea 6/8 Phase Sin VCO.
http://electro-music.com/forum/viewtopic.php?highlight=quadrature+oscillator&t=19841

1 ea Dynamix. A bank of 6 FET-based VCAs for wave mixing and scanning.

4 ea TGTSH (Threshold, Gate, Trigger, Sample/Hold) units.

Happy New Year to all!

Very Happy

Whomper - Wow, that's amazing! You've accomplished more in 1 year than I've done in 5. I've found that in my case I only have about 1 hour at a time where my concentration for soldering, wiring, etc. actually works - after that I'm doing stuff I have to fix later. Maybe when I was younger I could have managed what you've pulled off.

Ian - Your stuff is just amazing, also. What the heck are those frequency knobs - are they just for show or are they functional?

They're Knobpots. I was able to get a bunch out of a salvage yard many years ago.

neandrewthal, nice panel work! It's coming ever closer to the Serge aesthetic.

Thanks, It is getting closer to the serge. From now on, I'm going in 2 separate directions. The "boring" utilitarian modules will be on a serge-style grid for maximum space effectiveness, while the "sexy" modules will be more moog/buchla inspired, each having it's own unique layout and bigger knobs for tweaking. Coincidentally, the latter are proving harder to design layouts for, hence the blank spaces Laughing

Note: the modules in the bottom corners are just inverted screenshots from Thomas White's excellent FPD designs for the Klee and MFOS sequencer. I'll be getting these panels from bridechamber when they are ready.
