My audio project died.

I found another band called "Trapped on earth".
In the old days I would have been unaware of this coincidence.
But in this small world it's unacceptable.

Therefore a declare my project "TRAPPED ON EARTH" dead!!

Made a small list of new names and started a search.

Waveshaper: Taken
Manipulator: Taken

Evil or Very Mad

This will be difficult.

I can heartily recommend using entirely made up words as your alias. Not only is this fun, it means that you won't be treading on someone else's toes and Google searches will only return hits that are talking about you and your music: you will always be top of the list!

Or you could always pick a word so ubiquitous that no one can lay absolute claim to it without looking the idiot. For instance trees or city bus or play. You wouldn't belive how many signs there are promoting my moniker all over the world.

I played in a punkband once. Actually it ended up like some sort of powerprog spacerock band.... anyway... the band was called Agnar Mykle and the Juicemakers.. and I guess Atom might be able to enjoy that title..

Yeah, Moscovitz is a good 'un.

My friend has a thing about making up band names. He specialises in heavy metal, where band names (at least in the 80s) are all stuff like Anthrax or Nuclear Assault. My favourite of the names he came up with is Menstrual Holocaust.

I was thinking about this just this morning, and I humbly proffer the name 'Metaphage Kremlin' if you're still undecided..

Sausage Pincher??? Ouch!

Before deciding on Interstitial - I had been using Construct - a very uncreatively chosen name from William Gibson's Neuromancer. After getting on the net in '96 I found that about 8 other people had chosen that name as well so moved on. I do like the name Interstitial a lot - however, it's proved to be a frustrating name as well - since so many things are "interstitial". It fits my music though - or at least I think it does.

My last pop/rock band was called Simon. Another very unoriginal name - and of course - there were others under the same name.

I had a short lived project - well, technically, we never killed it - ha - maybe I should nudge my friend into doing something again. The name was/is: Edamame.

I've been lucky with names or perhaps a bit too out there for anyone to get confused. The most recent are 'play' and 'gaijin' which are admittedly fairly common words but I know of no other electronic or otherwise, acts using those monikers.

In the past I've had a punk band named "the Matacks" (an instrument sort of halfway between axe and pick), one rockish band called "The Blood Honey MC's", just to throw off promoters and the resurrection of that band which never made it out of the basement called "li'p", a made up word pronounced exactly like "lip" and meaning nothing at all.

I suppose I've performed under various other monikers including 'the Korrupt Talent Organization' and "Digital Signal Processing Network" and also "DJ DJ" which I think is in use currently by someone else.

ANother interesting way to make monikers is the old dadaist trick. Take a newspaper or page of a book, etc. and cut it into small peices then jumble them up and select a few at random.

Ah, nowadays I'm vending wares on a somewhat irregulat basis with a combo called "Why Not?" and a couple of mates and myself are rehearsing four part harmony under the name of "Mellow Mafia"

A few years ago, after much research, a band I was in named ourselves "Klear". However, soon after, we were contacted by someone indicating there was another band on the other side of the country also recently named Klear. This contact apparently also got in touch with the other band, suggesting they change their name. Well, after various conversations, and heated debates, it turns out this new person was really after the name himself, and was trying to use us to widdle his competition in half. Strange, strange. We should just all be unique numbers.

My very first band was called the horrible space pigs. It might surprise y'all that I never found another band with the same name.

Edit: But the band never came past 5 guitarist, a keyboardplayer and a singing girl with a recorder. Such a pity it doesn't exist anymore. So feel free Wink
