Nice small panel for that Mankato. Frac format can get crowded, but that looks fairly manageable. _________________ Garret: It's so retro.

they're bananas, the cheapo kind. Some are from Futurlec, coloured ones are from Dick Smith Electronics (an Australian chain, kinda like Radio Shack)

Format is 5U high, 2" wide. I found a bunch of 2'' wide 2mm aluminium plate being thrown out, so that's what i used. |

excellent looking synth midgetfidget

I much prefer looking at pure homegrown panels than FPD perfection

I`m LOVING the look of this ! Always put off building a modular because of the expence of just making it look good. I`m loving the ghetto`nes of this, and it`s going to look wicked with 30 modules looking like that ! I`m going to make my own ghetto modular too.. _________________ www.youtube.com/user/lofininja |

Thanks so much for the feedback! I will take some more detailed pictures of the individual modules soon -- and I'm very happy to share any of the silkscreen artwork if anyone wants it. I am pretty happy with this mixed format/spacing -- my only gripe is that the black knobs/jacks have a tendency to blend in with the black panels in low-light. Having the rack-cabinet flexibility has been very nice.

Here's some more info...

Both cabinets were custom built using hardware store materials plus case cabinet hardware/carpet from http://www.reliablehardware.com. They have lids which latch on, and also double as table-tops for keyboard stands (you can see one of them being used this way in the pic.) They are 14U tall and about 7.5" deep (+3" with lid.) The lids are deep enough to not interfere with patch cables, which is very nice -- I can patch it up before a gig. They probably cost me $100 USD to build and I'm happy to share information with anyone attempting something similar.

All the modules are completely DIY except the Blacet Quad Mix/VCA in the bottom left.

Colored jacks are inputs, black jacks are outputs, white jacks are logic/trigger/gate ins/outs.

MOTM Modules in left cabinet, left-to-right:

Dual XR-VCO

Ian Fritz Dual S&H

Dual Noise w/CGS Digital Noise & MFOS Noise Cornucopia

ARP4075 LPFA

Bubblesound SeM20 VSF retrofit

Dual Mixer (CGS boards)

Serge VCS

Digisound 80-13 External Input

MOTM Modules in right cabinet, left-to-right:

PT2399 VC Delay (not working very well -- going to get replaced)

2x Drilled panels for Thomas Henry MPS!!!

Thomas Henry Clangora

Thomas Henry UD-1

CGS Cynare

Drum Mixer (custom module, going to be rebuilt since I added new midi-to-trigger distribution) |

OK, along the same lines as the controller that I just posted is the board shown below, the U-HID G, also from www.ultimarc.com. It's kind of a cinderella story, I wanted a three-axis accelerometer on a USB interface so I figured out how to make one and on a whim I sent an email to Andy at ultimarc asking if he would like to add it to his product line. To my astonishment he said "Yes"!

So I helped him get started and wrote a bunch of ChucK software for it's use with guitars as a motion-based effects controller. It took forever to get the accelerometer chips because Analog Devices was selling all they could make for use in the Wii mote controller. Eventually, however, we got the chips and now I have one of the prototypes. It works great! I like to call it the "Accelerometer on a Stick", haha.

It was a fun project and I'm happy about it mostly, though due to the economy, I think, sales are slow. Sigh. Oh well it's a cool product and I had tons of fun working on it. DIY mania ensues!
