Just initiated myself to this forum, thank you. Brief introduction to follow...I'm a little bit old school, a little bit novice...In the eighties, i owned an Atari 1040 st with Dr.T software, and created electronic music with a partner in Tulsa, Oklahoma under the group name CAVU. I had a Prophet 6, Roland GR-300 and other MIDI gear, and created a nice catalog of "experimental" music, until I decided to become a productive citizen, and hold a steady job, relationship, etc., and put music on the extreme back burner.
Proceed to mid-2004, and I decide the time is ripe to continue my "experiments" with music, and Purchase a new Roland Gr-20 guitar synth, Roland VGA-7 modeling Guitar amp system, Zoom drum machine, Tascam FW-1082 firewire audio interface with mixer and Cubase LE, and various nick nacks to have an entry level system for recording.
I hope that explaions the "little bit old school..." introduction.
So,... I am using the limited available time I have to learn my systems,
build back my chops, research possible upgrades, research oncurring problems, etc. while I attempt to remain creative and compose new items to actually record. With all that said,... I am actively seeking any advice or shortcuts to take advantage of my system, and bypass any problems, ( already spent about 30 hours dealing with a registry problem that left my system blind to my cd-rom, preventing me from adding new components, and another registry problem where my sound card felt neglected and refused to play music!) and generally put me in the right direction. [I spend ridiculous amounts of time in FAQ sites looking for solutions]. Thanks in advance for any help!

welcome glad to have you here...

There are manyu old school newbies here. I'm in that category myself. Looks like you are on you way to a second look a composing. I'm sure you'll have even more fun this time.

Is the GR-20 a MIDI synth that you use with the GK-2 pickup. I have a coutom built Neckville Midi banjo I use with a GR-33. I've had it three years and I'm still trying to master it.

hello! many people on the board are familiar with older gear, newer gear, or both. A broad sense of the term electronic music is also accepted (and appreciated) here. if you need suggestions, comments, or just some conversation with like-minded types during your newly restarted musical experience, there will be feedback in these forums. anyway, welcome to the board, have fun with it and your music.

btw atari users, did Cubase actually start on that system? anybody use it back then?

I wasn't aware of that lineage for Logic. So that's why you're hooked on it Very Happy
