Hmm ... not sure ... i have been experimenting with it some years ago ... sysex and patch format are nearly the same except that for sysex some other header / trailer must be present and the info must be packed in 7 bit fields instead of 8 bit fields ... will have a look at it once i get home tonight and find some time ... meanwhile :

for some info on formats.

Sorry ... didn't find time tonight to sort this out ... and no, extension changing indeed won't do ... the data needs to be reformatted a bit ... i did write a program to do just that, but will need to search for it ... I will come back on this, promise!

Hey! Blue Hell! Thanks for your help!!!!
As you must know, my two G2 Engines do have broken USB circuits, so no Editor for me until the repair (I must change the two motherboards, it's gonna cost me some money but I am going to do it).
With sysex I wil be able to load nice patches inside my nords and work like that, MIDI Progam Changes are messy to work with sequencer anyway, sometimes they launch when you start your project(Protools, Live8) and sometimes not, also when you loop a clip(live) or a region(Protools) and the PC is inside that clip, the G2 will reload the patch...
I will also convert my patches to use them but I didn't make the MIDI CC# assignement on all of them, that make some sound kind of useless(what become a synth sound if you cannot tweak is parameter in real time?)
So as a special request.., please don't forget to mention your midi cc# assignement in your Patch Info Wink (I can also send a midi cc request from a BCR2000, but Info will be quicker)

Thanks

I found pch2midi on my harddisk ... a windows program ... I did not test test it and it does have the Delphi source code ... if it don't work I'll look into it ... it wants to save the midi files as .bin files, but you can rename it to whatever seems best, its just a raw MIDI file ...

Could you post a non working patch? or did you mean that the sysex transfers do not always work?

I think it was a patch from the G1/NordLead converted to the G2 (.pch to .pch2). I check this tonight.

Look at this one. I found what's the problem.

Only some characters in the textpad. It's probably easy to solve in the delphi source code. Btw, it's not a big problem.

I think the problem may be with the patch file generated by the g1 to g2 convertor - the 1.5 version is known to have some conversion bugs...

I loaded the posted problem example patch into the 1.40 Editor (not connected to a G2) then saved it back to disk. Comparing the two shows many differences, even the byte counts are different.

I would suggest that you try loading and saving the patch with the Editor and then try the pch2midi conversion on the new Editor generated patch.

No problem.

I forgot to mention that the problem patch does load and appear to work just fine in the 1.40 G2 Demo.

I would test the new patch converted with pch2midi but my MIDI enabled computer is not connected to my G2X at the moment...

The problem is the character in the red circle. What I don't realy understand it's than I have this character in many patchs and I can convert this patch without problem..

You can

-1 : edit the textpad part in the source code from the PatchConversion NordModularPatch

-2 : edit the ".pch2 to .syx" tool to accept this character

-3 : put the patch into the 1.40 Editor then saved it back to disk.

-4 : make a script to delete this character from all your patch :p

-5 : Do it manualy

I got the problem 1/10 patch. Well this is not a big problem.

Strange... I do not see those characters in the textpad when I open the problem patch with my 1.40 G2 Editor or Demo on my Windows XP computer. Maybe a Windows option setting different on my computer than yours?

Can you confirm that you only see these characters with patches that are generated with the G1 to G2 patch converter?

not exactly, I only see it with the NL to G1 to G2.

Edit : and with the G1 ModularEditor3_03 if I look the .pch before to be converted to .pch2, everything is ok, no weird characters
