NM Editor Beta, Unitor, Mac OSX Panther |
 |
|
Hi,
is anyone using this combination?
I have a problem assigning the correct port on my Unitor under Options...
Looks like the editor doesn't recognize the Unitor settings from MidiCore... _________________ Check out my new CD

Welcome to the forum NoVi.
I'm not a Mac person, but from what I remeber from the NM list is that some MIDI software allocates all MIDI ports it can find which will bring you into trouble with the NM's PC connection. These ports then have to be disabled for that MIDI software.
And yes, there is an unsupported beta version of the NM Classic editor for OSX availble from Clavia's site. It does have some bugs though. See http://www.clavia.se/G2/Nord_Modular_OSX_Editor.htm
Some people even managed to get the OS 9 version working under OSX, although this was tricky. But again, I'm not a mac owner.

how about that? no more win emulators for mac users |
Well, I remember I dloaded the OSX version already some months ago, from an hmm unoffical source (I was already planning to go G5 by then, but I have received my G5 last week).
But Clavia has it now "official" on their website for dload. It's a beta version, but hey it's better than nothing.
This whole story with the NM has made me at least very reluctant about again investing in hardware-software combinations.. _________________ Check out my new CD

Well, I have a G2 and it works very well on both my OSX and XP machines. I go from one to the other with no difficulty. _________________ --Howard

Well, I managed to get it working last night.
It looks rather stable...I had one moment when Logic started to complain about enough memory and the other thing I noticed is, that when loading a patch to a slot all windows get maximized. _________________ Check out my new CD

I mean that when Apple should come with a new OS version and Clavia does not want to release an updated version of the software the consumer is left in the cold. _________________ Check out my new CD

runs fine... sort of |
 |
|
i was a late bloomer getting my nord so have done nothing but run it on os x.... i've been running it on 10.3 for a while now. it seems to be sort of okay. crashes occasionally but luckily the nord itself doesn't crash, so i just have to restart the editor and my patch is fine. it does suck when i'm making some crazy noisey noodle and it happens to crash on a particularly painful setting. not the smoothest running thing, but guess i got no choice... _________________ music: teamabunai.org/oao

Just in case you're using Logic 7 with your NM:
don't forget to delete the cable that connects the summed output from the Physical input to the Input notes keyboard (in Environment > Click & Ports)
Otherwise you will have all this sysex data ' leak' into your tracks _________________ Check out my new CD
